Johnny Be Good (Johnny Be Good #1)

Lucy loves her boyfriend James, but just as she’s about to get on a flight to watch her best friends get married in Australia, she gets a very disturbing text message that hints that he may not be as faithful as she thinks. Distraught in Australia, she takes comfort in her friends’ happiness and turns her sights onto the surfer (and best friend’s brother) Nathan. The complete opposite of lawyer James, Nathan is carefree and fun. Back in London Lucy has a choice – stay with James or pine for Nathan, who’s far away. The decision is much harder when James becomes a bit more truthful and Nathan comes to visit. Once again, my best compliment is that I adore all of Toon’s characters. They’re my friends by the end, people I want to see again. The story is told very well and is far from any other chick lit. Toon never stays to the same tired plot of boy meets girl, they get together, something draws them apart, they’re back together within the last few pages. She shows her variety and keeps the reader on their toes. The book was fun, fresh, and instantly likable.

I honestly cannot believe I read this entire book, but I hoped something exciting would happen. I was wrong. Much like Toon’s Johnny Be Good, this entire novel is about a woman in love with someone so ill suited for her she makes herself basically unstable with her indecisiveness over it. At least I didnt spend the whole time worrying that she was going to get raging chlamydia like the idiot assistant that had constant unprotected sex with the slutty rock star Johnny. I have had high hopes for Toon ‘s other novels after being awed by The one we fell in love with, but so far these two novels are about women making 400 pages worth of mind boggling poor choices with abrupt endings and a single page epilogue that is entirely out of tone with the rest of the novel.

Amazing story – i read it in less than a week. However, as i read it the first 90 pages fell out because they are cheaply glued on to the spine. Pretty disappointing. But over all the story is worth it

Enjoyable read. Makes me want to start her next book asap. I will admit that her books seem to start slow, but after a while you can’t put them down….at least that’s how the two books I’ve read so far seem to go.

I’ve read so many of Paige Toons books and i love them! Lucy in the Sky is no different. The book truly allows you to escape in to Lucy’s world 🙂
