Nice Werewolves Don’t Bite Vampires (Half-Moon Hollow #8)

Overall this was a very pleasant addition to the Half Moon Hollow series, but the plot and characters didn’t have as much depth as I would generally expect in Ms Harper’s books. I found it a bit difficult to warm up to the main characters, especially Tylene, who spent most of the book whining like a teenager, but redeemed herself at the end by actually (gasp) rescuing herself from the bad guy. And Alex was just a non-entity compared to his friends Cal and Nik ( previous books). That said, I did enjoy it and I do recommend it. I would, however, like to suggest a better copy editor. There were a surprising number of errors – words left out, use of double verbs as though the author changed her mind but the first one did not get deleted, and a couple spots where it looked like spell check did it’s usual job of sticking in something odd. You do expect to run across the odd printing error, but all of these should have easily been caught during the copy edit. I’m not sure I’ll get the audiobook just yet. Unless the reader catches the errors, it will be annoying to hear them.

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! Molly Harper you are amazing!!! I am so thrilled to have been able to revisit Half-Moon Hollows. The author never fails to shock me with the things that go in the small town. This book is no different. Alex has moved to town to be close to Cal and Nik, long time friends. The vampire is operating a music academy that Jolene and Zeb\’s children attend. My how they have grown!!!! Tylerene is Jolene\’s cousin, living at the pack compound and hating every minute of it. I wasn\’t thrilled with the pack as I read it either. Ty escapes by watching the twins. First job–take them to the Music Academy. Who knew she could drool over a vampire. There is never a dull moment in Half-Moon Hollow. Someone is vandalizing vampire homes. Someone is threatening part of the \”family\” and putting them on edge. At this point I refused to put the book down. I hope you will feel the same way. I didn\’t want the story to end. I didn\’t want to say goodbye to the \”family\” but the ending was worth saying goodbye for now. Hopefully I won\’t have to wait too long for book number nine.

Good, but not great. Not one of my favorites. 2nd tier. This is not because of any shortfall with the main character, but I think the male lead is a bit underdeveloped, and the villian isn\’t much of a threat. Actually, I say that, but I really wanted Tylene to \”wolf out\” and put the fear of werewolves in him, but that didn\’t exactly happen. Also, Tylene doesn\’t seem to have a \”wolfman\” or combat form? She seems to be either a wolf or a human (though a supernaturally strong one). I didn\’t think Jolene EVER turned into a pure wolf, but I could be wrong so that\’s a good excuse to re-read the other books in the series. I think this book would have been better if it was a little longer, to flesh out the male romantic lead a little more, and maybe let either the werewolf or vampire subplots develop a bit more too.

I \’ve read all of molly Harper\’s books and they are funny and full of love and friendships. It\’s actually pretty funny I\’ll grab a few new books written by other authors and start to read them and get bored, then I dig out one of mollys book series and start to reread her books over again .

Nice Werewolves Don\’t Bite Vampires brings us back to Half-Moon Hollow, Jane Jameson, Dick Cheney, and the whole vampire gang. Everyone knows someone like Tylene McClaine, the quiet one the one who just doesn’t fit in with the rest of the crowd. Not in a creepy way, just in they’d rather be anywhere else. Tylene is smart and fighting against family expectations. And when you’re a werewolf those expectations are backed up with tooth and claw. But if Jolene could do it so can Ty. This was a fun tale of those efforts mixed with the Scooby gangs efforts to find out who is targeting Vampire business’s and why. I loved Ty and could totally relate.
