The aliens had their plans to wipe out the entire humanity from the face of the Earth. But that is not everything that they were looking for. There is also another possibility. They could hit their enemy so hard that the aliens would regret the fact that they never heard about mankind.
If you have been following the Expeditionary Force novel series from scratch then this book will be quite predictable for you. It will be predictable in a good way where you will love the plot and the characters for their incredible growth. Craig Alanson is phenomenal with his writing. The vocal performance of R. C. Bray is also par excellence, to say the least.
