It\’s kind of weird when you are getting from another pack perspective after being around the same characters, but still a good book for the series. My only complaint was that the audio book was missing pages 12 through 15 from chapter one, I hope that gets fixed.

I\’ve listened to all of the Timberwood Cove series and liked most of them (the sixth one notwithstanding because the narrator makes it unbearable), but for the life of me I cannot figure out why anyone would give this one more than one or two stars. The writing is fine, typical Liam Kingsley, and the narrator is very good, but holy cow, the character of Rick is just atrocious. He just keeps having freak out after freak out. I swear, you know that thing romance authors do where they sometimes have pointless conflicts arise because they\’re trying to pad out the length of their books? Rick has at least three of these, and, while none of them make THAT much sense, the final one is so unexplained, so out of left field, and so out of character that I honestly thought he was being bewitched or poisoned or something and that was making him do and say and think the stupid, bizarre things he did and said and thought. But nope! He\’s just a complete jerk. You can sort of see it throughout the entire novel; his character is just the whiniest, most self-centered creep I think I\’ve ever come across in a romance novel. Dean is fine, the secondary characters are all fine, and Rick\’s pubescent daughter is fine I guess (kids that age are always irritating in fiction and Emma is no exception but she\’s certainly no more irritating than any other stupid kid). But Rick is simply irredeemable. I actually stopped listening to the book about half an hour before the end because I hated him so much I didn\’t feel as though he actually deserved the happily ever after that I assume he gets. Liam Kingsley is a good if somewhat formulaic writer of this genre, and most of the Timberwood Cove books are worth a listen, but do yourself a favor and skip this one.

I love and hate how the end of each story basically tells u the next relationship you are going to see in the next serious. I hate because some of the books are missing.

Playboy alpha wolf shifter and an untrusting human detective find connection and love. I really liked the narrator in this audible book. His voice and pacing were really good. I enjoyed how he brought Rick and Dean to life for me. The story-line kept me interested and I enjoyed watching Dean, the wolf shifter accept that he had a fated mate and really commit to wanting a relationship with Rick the detective. Rick\’s fear of violence and of getting his heart broken again were well done and not overplayed. I love how Rick\’s mom helps him accept his mate. This is a complex story about helping a child deal with bullies, accepting love and learning to trust. There is action, some violence and lots of great banter. There is emotional content as both men learn to be vulnerable and to give love a chance. There are some twists and turns, surprises and a few misunderstandings and compromises. There are some wonderfully steamy moments and a very happy ending for this couple.
