Girls with Razor Hearts (Girls with Sharp Sticks #2)

When I discovered the first book to this series I was not very certain that I would like but I ended up giving in and fell in love with the story and the girls at Innovations Academy. Immediately after I finished I asked Suzanne if there was gonna be a second book and she confirmed it. It\’s all I could think about. I kept a close watch for the second book and now that I\’ve finished I super excited about the next. I mean she has to have a third book because that was big cliff hanger like WHAT THE HECK is that!!! It should be illegal to stop a book like that lol. This book was really gripping and thrilling all the way till the end. I couldn\’t get enough of it. This book takes right off where Girls with Sharp Sticks ends. I dont want to give too many details because I dont want to ruin the first books ending. Leandra Petrov sends the girls to Connecticut to find an investor that\’s supplying Innovations and get him to cut the supply of money. While there Mena and the girls run into many of suprises along the way. So nothing is simple for them. Mena doesnt trust anyone except for the girls. So she constantly is guessing who is on their side and who isnt. I think this book is great at getting a lot of points across when it comes to women and how men are in the world of today. To be honest it should make you mad and if it doesn\’t then your blind to whats going on. When Mena and Sydney see what\’s going on at the prep school they start going to they are absolutely appalled by everything. They girls are treated like absolute garbage and noone does anything for them. The sexism and racism is so strong in that school. Mena and Sydney witness what the real world is like first hand for the first time and refuses to be like the rest. She takes a stand. They find a way to help the girls at the prep school and it works. This book had a lot of twists and turns in it that I was never expecting at all. I would think it would be over and then bam something else would surprise me. It surprised until the very last page. Suzanne knows how to keep her readers on their toes. I think this series is excellent.

I loved the first book. And it has felt like an eternity waiting to read the next installment. However, I must admit I was a little concerned about how the second book would flow after everything that happened in the first. But that is always the question when reading a series isnt it. Will the next book be as good as the first? Well I am hear to tell you, Mena and the girls are back with a vengeance. I must say that I think I may have enjoyed the second installment in this series more than the first. And let me tell you that is huge for me because I habitually hate the 2nd book of any series. However, I felt like this book truly introduced us to Philomena and the girls. Having freed themselves from Innovations Academy they are now looking not only to free the rest of the girls but to take down those that run the academy. This task will not prove to be easy. The girls will not only learn more about themselves than they ever expected but who they can and cannot trust with their secrets. This installment brings many issues to the forefront that many women in our society are facing. Dare I say, it felt a little #metoomovement-ish. I am sure for some that may be an instant turn off, however for me it took this storyline to a whole other level. This book was action packed and engaging. If youve read the first, dont stop, get the second. I highly recommend this book and the series.

I love this book! A phenomenal feminist read! It is so empowering. It calls out so many of the sexist things that woman have to deal with in todays society. This is a near futuristic story with a sci-fi twist and so many of the sexist things brought up in this world are things we encounter in our daily life. This book and series is perfect for fans of The Handmaids Tale and Vox. I read this book in one sitting, it is so easy to fly through. Do yourself a favor and read these books!

After loving Suzanne Youngs first novel, Girls with Sharp Sticks, I knew I needed to read this sequel. The book picked up exactly where the first book left off and accelerated from there. I finished this book in four days because its so action-packed and engaging. Anyone who loves feminist or YA fiction should definitely give this one a read!

READ THIS TRILOGY! This is the 2nd book and the 3rd is set to come out in Feb. Im desperately, impatiently waiting for that day. Girls banding together. Who runs the world? GIRLS. Please just read it.
