The more of his series I read, the more I wish there was a real Kian and clan. So much going on and the turn of events are not predictable. You think the characters will go one way with this person or that but it doesn’t. I can’t stop reading them.

I’m in love with Kian and the whole crew. I do constantly wonder about some of the characters and their stories. I’m really into the quiet ones like Brundar. Hmmm…..sounds deliciously sexy even though not much has been said about him thus far. I’m kind of curious about him. I’m curious to see if I.T. Lucas delves further into his character. Though she has so far gone into other stories, I’m always the one who wonders about the mysteriously quiet and mostly absent ones like Brundar. That’s just me though.

Nevertheless, what I’d do to have a Kian in my life. Good thing I’ve got I.T.Lucas to fill my mind with her version of him.

I love the suspense and the anticipation that I am constantly filled with as Lucas keeps adding things to wonder about. It just never gets boring.

Yep. I’ll keep reading these books forever and ever, Amen.

Ok, these are probably the BEST books I have read in a long time. The writer is extraordinarily talented in bringing her cast of characters to life. Although the premise of immortals may seem unbelievable to some, the way Lucas writes makes you believe you could sit down and have coffee when any of them. Well, almost any of them:) You will have to read to see which ones you want coffee with! I devoured each of these books in order. I couldn’t put the series away. Usually I read a couple in a series and then move on to something else. I read one right after the other until I had read all of them and now can’t wait to read the next one. I truly look forward to these. Not having been one who typically reads a book with steamy sex scenes (yes there are some – so if that will offend you – don’t read) but these are so well done and such an integral part of the stories. You will have to read the books to find out why! If you like mysteries and love stories that are not typical –written by one of the best authors I have read in a really long time then please pick up the first book and read then in order. Do you have to read in order – no, but you will enjoy them so much more if you do. With summer coming up these would be great to take on vacation. Thanks Ms. Lucas for a great series!

Audiobook Dark Enemy Captive (The Children of the Gods #5) by I. T. Lucas

Dark Enemy: Captive KU/bought 288 pgs *** 6/20/21 several characters

3 stars. A lot of filler pages in this book, mostly boring, skippable filler pages. I did like the actual conversations when I found them, I tend to get more out of explanations via conversation than pages of just words trying to explain, between conversations. I do plan to keep reading even though I get frustrated with all the endings just stopping in the middle of a story and at least 30+ pages shorter than was listed. I do love the storyline but its just nearly having to skim the book to find the continuation of the storyline. I really like Dalhu and am hopeful he will get his chance at a good life eventually. Andrew tends to get on my nerves at times. I need more story in these books, I feel frustrated while reading them but I do want to find out what happens so I keep reading the next book. Thank goodness they are KU, I bought several of the boxed sets a few years ago so I am reading those but I dont think I will purchase any more so I am glad of the KU on the series or I wouldnt finish it.

Audio Dark Enemy Captive (The Children of the Gods #5) narrated by Charles Lawrence

Dalhu and Amamda… a match made in Heaven! There could not have been a better match up for her than this strong immortal male, regardless of the fact that he was a Doomer! But even as a Doomer I had hope for him because his inner-most being didn’t seem to fit the concept of what the Doomers were. He was not mindless and was not a drone, even thought he had to appear to be. I loved the fact that he had a plan to escape his lifestyle even before he kidnapped Amande. He was just bidding his time…
Amanda would almost seem to be a hopeless tramp…but even she was not as shallow as she first appeared to be. Instead she was a sensitive
who hid who she was. Not the females faults that every immortal male surrounding them were relatives! Sheesh! So, getting their tramp on was the only thing left for them to do… Hey! What is good for the goose is also good for the gander! But our ladies have redeeming characteristic that make me truly like them…
Dalhu and Amanda… I LOVE IT!! I am looking forward to reading more of the series… I have already ordered the whole set. Looking forward to the release date for # 10…Nuff Said!

Dark enemy Captive continues Amanda and Dalhu’s star-crossed love affair. While imprisoned in the clan stronghold, Dalhu learns that Amanda is Annani’s daughter and loses even the tiny spark of hope he was clinging to that Amanda’ll find a way for them to be together. They’ll never be allowed near one another. But Annani enlists Anandur’s help and the two of them arrange for Amanda to see Dalhu behind Kian’s back. There is a very hot scene that takes place in a bathroom, and for a while it looks as if things will work out between Amanda and Dalhu, but Kian makes sure to blow them apart by forcing Amanda to acknowledge that her lover is her nephew’s murderer. Amanda is torn between wanting Dalhu and despising him, and she considers giving Andrew a chance.
Meanwhile, Annani wants Kian and Syssi to have a grand wedding, the first ever for the clan, and she shoots down all of Syssi’s objections. At first Syssi’s reluctant, but when she realizes that Kian is as enthusiastic about marrying her, if not more, as his mother, she accepts. Now all she has to do is plan a wedding for six hundred Immortals in less than two weeks and figure out what to do about her parents. But Syssi’s worries are of the happy kind, while Amanda’s seem insurmountable. Could she ever be with the man who ordered her nephews murder? I guess we’ll have to wait and see how she solves this problem in the next book, Dark Enemy Redeemed.
