I enjoyed the frankness of Clare’s struggle, the details and timelines. So much I could identify with in myself and my sons. Very uplifting and great tips that worked for her.

Just Brilliant.

Lovely book. Many women can relate I am sure. Loved listening to Claire’s story, absolutely did!!

Learning to live with who we are is a giant challenge when we have not dealt with issues from our past and childhood. Having been to one of Clare’s concerts and thoroughly enjoyed it and found her performance clever and fun and her singing just great I had to read her story. It’s a very honest open account of her life and I do look forward to finding out more. I loved this book for its honesty. It also made me understand that I am not alone when I mull over my teen years and lack of confidence.

Clare Bowditch opens her heart and soul in Your Own Kind of Girl and writes honestly about the mental health issues she experienced in childhood and as a young adult. Its painful reading at times but as the chapters peel away and we see Clare start to manage what was happening to her, the book becomes one of those you dont want to end.
Clare seems to have been oblivious to her own exceptional talents so there are many twists and turns. But when the sadness turns into joy and her creativity is recognised, happiness and love follow. I loved this book, its incredibly sad but also funny, enlightening and inspirational. I hope she continues to write.
