Caught in Us (Lost #3)

Caught in Us by Layla Hagen is the final book in the Lost Series, and I think that Layla saved the best story in the series for last. I just loved the story and the wonderful characters. I really enjoy how Layla writes in the first person and changes the perspective between Dani and Damon. Caught In Us is the story of Dani Cohen, a high school senior and Damon Cooper, bad boy and fighter, whose mother recently passed away and he is forced to live with his father, who he never met. Caught is Us takes places prior and after Found is Us. The book starts in the spring of Dani’s senior year of high school. Dani’s first meets Damon in English class, when he in the new guy at her high school. Dani finds herself falling for this bad boy. When the school administration informs Dani’s parents that she is hanging around with Damon they do not approve and forbid her from hanging around with him. There is danger surrounding Damon, since he recently beat Gabe in a match. Eventually, Damon’s bad boy actions cause his father to send him to boarding school in Canada, with the help of Dani’s father. Damon tells Dani that he will come for Dani once he gets his life in order. The book skips ahead one year, with both Dani and Damon enrolling for the spring semester at Stanford, unbeknownst to each other. Dani decided to leave London after one semester and return home. Dani lives in a dorm room with her best friend Hazel. Dani runs into Damon in the Orientation office on her first day at Stanford. Dani and Damon pick up where they left off and confess their love for each other. Gabe is out of jail and is seeking revenge from both Dani’s brother, James and Damon for his stint in prison. Once again Layla Hagen has delivered a wonderful story and proved once again that she is an amazing storyteller. Caught in Us is filled with bittersweet and poignant moments, along with her usual plot twists. The book finishes five years after it begins. I loved every minute and I loved getting caught up with Serena and James, and Jessica and Parker. So glad that Dani got her happily every after. Caught in Us was a tremendous story and I loved every page.

Caught in us is the last book in this Lost Series. This was an amazing story, I wasnt sure how I felt about it at first because I am not into high school romance as normally it seems so premature because things always change when it comes to getting older. But this story caught my eye and it was so good. Damon is a new student in Danis English class. Dani thinks Damon is amazingly hot but she also thinks he is so rude to the students and teachers. Dani doesnt back down and calls Damon out on being a jerk something clicks. They become friends but quickly turn into something more. The one issue that Dani has is that her parents do not want her to be seen or involved with Damon. When Damon’s dad sends him away they both move on but as much as they can because they both still love each other. Sometime later I wasnt surprised that Damon would show back up but I would have loved that the author would have made him work a little more to get involved with Dani again. I loved the somewhat suspense that came with the story to keep Dani safe. Loved the entire series!

I loved the way this book started out. The way they started as friends and started flirting was perfect. I do wish it had been more of a slow burn though.

What disappointed me most was that we kinda rush into their relationship and then they are pulled apart. Then we jump a year and they get right back to where they were. I just felt like once they’re separated the entire rest of the book felt pointless and it dragged. It was extremely slow after that and nothing really happened. Then you have the dramatic part that happened quickly and that I didn’t care about by that point.

I would have liked it much more if we had given more time and life into their budding relationship in the beginning, and maybe had them struggle a little to get back to each other. No one worked for anything. I don’t like drama, but this felt entirely too easy.

Layla Hagen has done it again. She promised to make us laugh and that Caught in Us, will be a one sweet romance. Well, she truly kept her promise with this one. I love her sense of humor!!!

Falling for a bad boy… appearance isn’t all that it’s wrapped up to be. Like what everyone would say…”Don’t judge the book by it’s cover.” Well, this goes with Damon and Dani’s story. Damon the bad boy who has been through hell…losing someone whom he loved dearly, made him a one dark and brooding person. Dani the rich and proper girl may have it all but once you get to know her, you’ll be surprised what you find out. Money isn’t everything, it will never buy happiness and both Damon and Dani, will show you the reasons why.

One good girl who may have everything is itching to get out of her safety shell and one hottie who wants nothing but to push every who surrounds him. What a match in heaven, right? (winks) Polar opposites do attract, we all know this. From friends to lovers, may be the one thing that could make both of these characters feel like the world isn’t actually out to get them. Damon’s only mission is to protect Dani from danger. Someone from their past is back and is out for blood. But not to worry, Dani will be surrounded by her protectors. The question is… Will she always be safe?

I love me some DAMON!!! He can protect me anytime, sorry Dani. (winks)

If you’re looking for a comedy romance, packed with a hot alpha male, I highly recommend you read Caught in Us. Looking forward to reading more of Ms. Layla Hagen’s babies.

I really really enjoyed this book, and trust me even though it is book 3 in a series it can be read as a stand alone. Dani and Damon could not be any more different but you do know they say opposites attract 🙂 As these two collide they begin to develop a friendship that turns to more. I loved how the past came back to haunt their chances together, i will not say the outcome of this visit from the past as i hate to spoil the story for readers. But i will say this, as soon as i get time i will be checking out the other books in the series. Also if you love this author as much as i do, and this is only my second book of hers i fully recommend Withering Hope – but have the tissues ready for that one 🙂
