I guess the author just couldn’t resist and this is the transitionary book where the Carpathian and Lycan bloodlines supposedly mix for the first time in the centuries of their long extended lives. Or that’s what we are supposed to believe, anyway. Even more farfetched is the idea that said wolf gal is completely ignorant of her lineage and is more of a shallow fashionista, totally unlike the MaryAnn Delaney of Dark Destiny. Manolito De La Cruz, however is a very endearing hero yet he goes ballistic when he realizes that he has been “infected” with werewolf blood from his lifemate. Like, who didn’t see that one coming? Of course, we have to suffer, yet again ad nauseaum, another human-to-Carpathian-blowtorch-and-vomiting conversion, cheesy “feminine channel” descriptive writing, and big, bad, jaguar-man out to get one little woman. Of course the jaguar is setting up the plot for Solange and Dominic of the Dragonseeker’s story, Dark Peril, but it’s getting old having to read about the brutality to the jaguar women.
On the plus side, this book gives more insight and background on the Malinov brothers, their sister Ivory (Dark Slayer), the reason behind the plot to kill the Prince, and he who shall not be named (as described in previous books), Draven Dubrinsky: the son of Vlad, brother to Mikhail and Jacques who became Nosferatu.

Dark Possession audiobook in series Dark
Loved everything about Mary Ann. Especially her sense of style and need to look good as she kicked butt. Acceptance of who and what they were in the end strengthened the bond they had already made. Knowing yourself is a gift. Finding who you really are happens suddenly sometimes when you’re protecting the ones you love. Love is complicated but it will always show you the way. Manolito and Mary Ann found a way to be whole. Two very different species merged to become one love, one heartbeat. Hope for all envelopes you through some very tense scenes and I had to trust the author. Wow, she had me a little worried in this one. No HEA? It was beautifully written to keep you guessing and praying they would make it.

Dark Possession audiobook by Christine Feehan
I Like Christine Feehan because she doesn’t use a cookie cutter mold for each book and the featured characters. Dark Possesion is very diffrent from the other book. We meet Mary Ann Delany in Dark Destiny and Dark Celebration. She is a counselor for Abused Women in Seattle, Wash. She has became friends with Destiny and has come with her to the Carpathian Mountains for a christmas celebration, where Manolito De La Cruz see her and knows she is his lifemate. Manolito is mortally injured and his brothers return him home to the Rain Forrest to continue healing, Mary Ann is their to do some counseling with two abused Jaguar Women. What make Mary Ann different is she loves High Fashion, she is a Sassy Chic and she loves to look good even in a rain forest, For me I like her character she was confident, intelligent, sassy and high syle, beautiful and very funny!!( dont get me started on the pepper spray and bug spray) it was hillarious she is a inner Big City girl and this is how we are in the city I could relate we want to look good at all times!!!! I Loved it I also loved the conversations she has with Manolito once she finds out they are life mates, I liked the fact that the battle this time also is taking place in a different relm of shawdows and mist, as well as in the rain forest. The Love Story Works and we get to meet new people (jaguar People) and we introduced to the werewolve. The story has many twist and turns at time you don’t know what is real because it take place on two relms!!! but this make it interesting for you to try and figure out. It was a Page turner for me and I really like this book!!

Dark Possession audio narrated by Abby Craden
I felt really let down by this book, and I paid the most for it. I preordered it. I tried to read it when I got it but could not get involved in the story, to my shock. I had read all the other stories combined in about 2 weeks time after reading the first one! I am a devoute fan. I love the Carpathian series, but confess this was a surprising miss. I put it aside for 4 months and just read it this week. I really liked the primary characters but I felt some critical information and other things were missing in this book; and I felt like there were some false starts. Where did all those mages suddenly come from? There was an opportunity here to tie up some loose ends from the previous books, especially regarding the mages. Just throwing them in, especially in the jungle, left me feeling very unsatisfied with the genesis of how they got into the story. The last we knew, there was only 1 for sure, possibly 2. Then there is the issue of how would the best of the Carpathians have put Manuel in that bizzare limbo? The whole one foot in one world and one foot in the other confused me more than anything. I felt like I had been drawn into an unfortunate rendering and coupling of Dante’s circles of hell and the Odysseus trip to Hades. I also missed some of the other characters that always seem to appear with rapier wit and intelligence. I agree with another reviewer, enough with the other languages! This is not Tolkien. I don’t need or like or want that unnecessary distraction in the Carpathian novels. I got addicted to the stories before Ms. Feehan started this language thing. It is irritating fluff. I prefer the more tightly drawn plots and more interaction between Carpathians that drew me into the series in the first place. While I really like Maryann and her reliance on fashion as a kind of armor, something to which a lot of women can relate, her essential history is missing. I love Manolito too, but felt like he was missing some explanations and a good story line. This story was disjointed and did not seem like part of the series. You cannot skip one of the series without missing a puzzle piece critical to the series. I did not feel that way about this book. I hope the new Ghost Walker book does not dissapoint. I am a huge fan of those as well.
I hope the next Carpathian novel answers some of the questions that have been left hanging and that it brings more of the previous characters together for a united purpose.
I still think Ms. Feehan is a fine writer and respect her tremendous talents.

I was really looking forwarding to reading Maryanne’s story. There was a slight change in this book, for one the lead female wasn’t 100% against the carpathian which makes a nice change and two the dynamic felt different, but again I absolutely loved it and I find that strange that a writer can keep me hooked 18 books in.
Obviously fantastic writer with a fantastic imagination.
I’m moving straight on to the next one
