I am now reading Clean Kill, the sequel to Dead Shot, because I loved it. I especially appreciate Coughlin\’s knowledge of being a sniper. He portrays the lonely existence and anguish of the trade. I respect the writing of Sgt Jack Coughlin and his co-author, their use of metaphor, simile, etc. Dead Shot allowed me to get into the head of an Englishman who turned against western society and its values because of his ethnic and religious background. Another facet of the Kyle Swanson series that I, a woman, value is the strong women who work with the hero or are his friend or beloved. Jack Coughlin and his co-writer are adept at portraying strong female characters.

Dead Shot audiobook in series Sniper
While I really enjoyed this book, it is more about Juba. His skill and expertise were impressive. I was disappointed that Swanson was not going toe to toe with him. I do enjoy how Coughlin and Davis write on every level. This is going to be a great series with awesome characters. I just hope Swanson gets more action in the future books.

Audiobook Dead Shot by Donald A. Davis Jack Coughlin
We were introduced to Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Swanson in Kill Zone. In that novel, Swanson, the top sniper in the USMC is involved in a horrific firefight and reportedly killed. The military proceeds to publish and act on that fiction of his death, including burial in Arington National Cemetary in order to provide him with complete cover to join an elite military unit which takes on only the most dangerous types of missions. In this novel we are introduced to Juba. Trained as a top British sniper, Juba is in fact a plant of Muslim extremists who is called from his service to Her Majesty to ply his trade with al Qaeda. He and Swanson had once crossed paths before their transformations and are destined to do so again. I don\’t like to divulge plot lines in recommending books as half the fun is getting there. This book is certainly in the syle of a Tom Clancy or a Vince Flynn with the same type of authenticity, well drawn characters amd a well crafted story that draws the reader along in what could all too easily be more truth than fiction. Jack Coughlin and Donald Davis have fashioned two well told novels of adventure and terror that should keep you up beyond your bed time and looking forward to the next one.

Audio Dead Shot narrated by Luke Daniels
I read the first Kyle Swanson story a few years ago in hardback. I enjoyed it very much. Then I picked up Dead Shot later on in hardback, but put off reading it in that format once I got my Kindle. Finally the price came down to $2.99 and I jumped on it. I did indeed enjoy this thriller very much. The two authors really UPPED the action level in this thriller! I was hooked early on in this story and zipped right thru it. I gave it 4-stars due to the ending. After all the build up, I felt the ending was a tad weak. Still, I see I have plenty of books to catch up with in this series, at least 4 others at this point in time. As other reviewers have noted, if you enjoy the Brad Thor novels, or books by Stephen Hunter (Bob Lee Swagger), then you will enjoy the Kyle Swanson thrillers as well.

My son is a marine machine gunner…hates to read but since coming home from deployment I have been trying to get him to read anything to keep his mind occupied. Well this book contains subject matter he understands and enjoys. He was wounded during recent war so has a lot of time driving back and forth to hospitals and commitments so I bought a couple of these books on audio for him and he loves them. As a mom I would rather him read less warlike but he is interested in these stories and seems less road ragish while driving if his mind is occupied.
