Teen Killers Club achieves that rare feat of delivering all the things I want from YA thrillers — imaginative concepts, rich interior lives of young people, impossible crushes — but elevates it all with smart writing, existential questions, and crackling humor. Lily Sparks really knows how to write, and her hero Signal Deere is the best combination of clever and intelligent. Personally, it can be tough to get through a first-person novel where you feel one step ahead of the protagonist — if I wanted to feel trapped in the head of a dummy I’d meditate more! — but not here. Every time I thought I knew where the plot was going, or what choices Signal would make, Teen Killers Club surprised me at every turn. I’m neither a teenager nor a girl — and it’s been a while since I was sent against my will to a government-sponsored off-book summer camp for teenage assassins (long story) — but I felt seen by this novel and couldn’t help but feel immersed in its dark and twisted world. Finally, even though this book has an incredibly satisfying ending, I have to admit I really hope this becomes a franchise. I would absolutely keep going on this dark, hilarious and frequently just-plain-lovely journey. HIGHLY recommended.

Not gonna lie, I was in a major reading slump. 2020 has done a serious number on my ability to focus for any length of time. So I was delighted the night I started reading to look over and find that suddenly it was after midnight and Id been reading over an hour. And it stays just as well paced and engaging throughout. Fair warning, dont read before bed if you have to get up early the next morning.
Signal is a great MC and through her we meet a variety of other intriguing Class As who have chosen this desperate bid to escape jail time and ended up making a deal with the devil. The moral grayness of it will keep you on your toes. Because on one hand, you want them to succeed. You identify with them and think that maybe these kids arent any different from any other teenager. But then you check yourself because what youre rooting for is ultimately for them to murder people and get off scot free.
I cant wait to read more!

An action packed wild ride! I got four copies for some teens in my life as this book reminds me of the kind we would read at summer camp in a couple of days then pass around to other campers. I certainly hope this turns into a show or movie! Good work!
