This was another fun installment in this series! I like that characters from Jenn McKinlay’s other series visit the library. I haven’t started the other series yet but I do have the books so I will have to do that once I finish this series. Thanks for the fun!

Death in the Stacks series Library Lover’s Mysteries
The murder of a hated, blackmailing diva, Olive Boyle (new head of library board — and no spoiler here!) leads Lindsey and her friends down a dark path. One of the best and most suspenseful in the series. Also had the giggles over Ms. Kinlay introducing characters from her other two mystery series into the book. Well done and needed comic relief. Excellent book with surprises. Recommended!

Audiobook Death in the Stacks by Jenn McKinlay
Library Director Lindsey Norris has her hands full running the Dinner in the Stacks Fundraiser and the last thing she needs is the interference of Olive Boyle, President of the Library Board. But Olive is determined to interfere in all library matters even if they are none of her business. Lindsey may not like Olive but she is dismayed when Olive is murdered, especially when one of her staff members is the main suspect. Lindsey had promised not to investigate any more murders but she can’t help get involved this time – can she?
“Death in the Stacks” is the delightfully witty eighth book in Jenn McKinlay’s Library Lovers cozy mystery series. There is a lot to love about this series starting with the library setting and continuing on with the characters – Lindsey, Sully, Robbie (thank heavens the love triangle in the book seems to be resolved) , Beth, even Ms. Cole (who continues to grow throughout the series). There is a great sense of humor throughout the book that had me chuckling more than once (as much as I dislike the Lindsey/Sully/Robbie triangle in the earlier books I do love the interactions between Sully and Robbie). The Dinner in the Stacks Fundraiser not only functions as a perfect setup for murder but for some delightful cameo appearances by characters from some of McKinley’s other books. The mystery itself is nicely done – starting with the murder victim who is so disliked that there are plenty of suspects who wanted her dead. The ending is full of suspense and surprises that had me guessing until the very end who the killer was.

Audio Death in the Stacks narrated by Allyson Ryan
Librarian Lindsey Norris, director of the Briar Creek Public Library is enjoying her life. She has a handsome man in love with her, Captain Sully, and her dog, Heathcliff, and a job she adores. Lots of good friends and life is going as it should.
That is…until a new the library board elected a new president. Enter one Olive Boyle. The woman is acerbic and filled with vendettas. One, unfortunately is set against not only Lindsey, but her staff worker, Paula.
While planning for the annual fund raiser, Dinner in the Stacks, Olive makes her nasty side show. The dinner is a hit and we are introduced to two sets of sleuths from Ms. McKinlay’s other murder mystery series. What fun to read. They were blended in beautifully…then after the affair, three of Olive’s friends come looking for her. Unfortunately, Paula finds her dead among the stacks of books.
We know Lindsey has promised Sully no more investigations, but, this is about Paula being accused wrongly. Lindsey has to snoop. And, us readers are behind her all the way.
This was a clever mystery. Kept me turning pages until the ending. Good story and I am glad the other two groups will be joining the community. A Bravo of a tale.

I love this series and I have finally been catching up.
Death in the Stacks is a phenomenal story, filled with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the very end.
Lindsay and her staff are preparing for dinner in the stacks, an event that helps collect funds for the library.
Unfortunately for Lindsay, the new president of the library board is a nasty woman, who uses private information to blackmail people into being her friend.
When a gruesome murder puts one of the library staff at the too of the suspect list, Lindsay can’t help but investigate.
This story is well told and all the characters are extremely loveable.
The author does a great job of keeping the reader in suspense, and even at the very end of the story, the story took another twist that left me on the edge of my seat.
