Decaffeinated Corpse

I’m really enjoying the Coffeehouse mysteries. Full of interesting coffee lore! Also, I’m glad to see Clare starting to move on from Matt(eo), her ex-. Madame doesn’t play a big part in this, but neither does Joy, Clare’s daughter, so I’m satisfied (I love Madame, hate Joy). Glad to see Quinn start a relationship with Clare, too.

The mystery is not quite as deftly solved as the previous four books, but the author(s) provide a HAE follow-up before the end. Overall, a very enjoyable “cozy”, and I don’t say that about most of this ilk.

This is the 5th book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series. Claire is dealing with both past and present loves as she finds out that her ex-husband’s partnership with a developer of a naturally decaffeinated plant is causing major issues leading to a series of deaths. Her relationship with the good detective is just beginning to blossom, but this case may end up causing them challenges. Added into the mix are old friends, and a new, much older boyfriend, for her daughter. Claire finds she must solve this mystery as not only their lives, but their livelihood may be in jeopardy if the decaffeinated bean does not get off the ground. This was a lively mystery with some humor injected, particularly by Madame, Claire’s ex-mother-in-law. I have a feeling that we may see more about her daughter’s boyfriend, a chef, in books to come. As always, the book contains some interesting coffee trivia and a nice group of recipes.

This is the fifth installment in the ever entertaining “A Coffeehouse Mystery” series. Clare and the gang are back – this time to solve a decaffeinated mystery. Ric, an old friend of Clare’s ex-husband, Matt, has come up with a botanically decaffeinated coffee bean that is sure to turn the world of decaffeinated coffee upside down. Never before has decaf tasted so wonderful. However, Ric has smuggled the cutting into the country and things start to get way out of hand. From attacks to killings, Clare sets out to find answers. By now, she has become a second hand at this detective stuff and along with the help of Matt, Madame and Clare’s more or less boyfriend, Quinn, there is never a dull moment to be had.
The characters in this book – as with all the others previously – are so wonderfully written and you really begin to connect with the main characters. I am anxious to read the next installment in this great series and to see what other troubles end up brewing for Clare and everyone!
So grab a cozy seat, a nice coffee drink, and settle in for an entertaining read!

* Wonderful Dialogue Between Characters, Which Helps Move the Storyline Along & Gives The Reader More Insight Into Each Character.
* The Coffee History Written About In The Novel Was Also Fun To Read. Especially If You Are A Coffee Drinker/Lover. It Adds To The Coffee Theme Of Each Novel.
* I Also Love The Recipes That Are Placed At The End Of Every Novel.

I liked other books in this series better. That being said, it is still a good book. I really like this series and plan on reading all the books. I’m reading them in order and enjoying each one! Fun to read!
