In Case You Missed It

I am a big fan of the basic trope of this book: the realization that what you\’re looking for is right before you and past is never quite as you remember it. But in this book it was done in a boring way with 1-dimensional characters for whom it was hard to care. Ros, the \”heroine,\” goes from trying to recreate a illusory rosy past to understanding that she should move forward into the future. The idea was good but the execution was boring and there was no chemistry between any of the characters and no romance worth speaking of. There was no depth to the characters at all and the whole thing felt very superficial. Also, there were pages and pages of information about the annoying teenage gamer and the projected podcast that added nothing to the story and seemed it was all there to meet a word count. It really felt and as if the author had phoned this one in. I recommend giving this one a pass.

I really loved this book. Ros seemed authentic and her problems were real. Ros left her fab life in England and boyfriend, Patrick, she still couldnt believe she had for a job in the US. 3 years later, shes back and ready to pick things up where she left things but her friends lives moved on. Patrick is eager to reunite but Ros still cant figure out whats different. Her empty nester parents made a shed for her to live in the backyard. So at least shes not completely homeless. She also doesnt like that her friends made a new friend John, they rave about him and she doesnt see why. Sure he owns their fav bar and hes super helpful-in a way its annoying. Ros biggest problem was looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses. This is something I constantly have to remind myself about. Theres highs but also lows. I really liked the quote from Emily Dickinson thats in the book Forever-is composed of nows. Ros grows a lot and the storyline with her work, making podcasts, was really interesting too. I cant wait to read more by this author!

This was so so for me! Loved John, hated Patrick! Girl needed to get past her history with the guy and look forward to what could be.

I always finish books I start, but I just couldnt finish this one. Just not for me. Boring and edging on ridiculous.

I read through a few of the reviews for In case Your Missed It before I sat down to write this review, which is something I dont usually do. However, I was curious what others thought. There are some widely mixed reviews, it looks as though either readers loved this book or hated it. So my advice, if you are reading this review is to just go pick up the book. If you wanted to read it, then go ahead and read it, make your own opinion about it. BUT if you are looking for a review here you go. I really liked In Case You Missed it. The story was interesting, a great way to lose yourself in a book for a few hours. An easy read with relatable characters. Ros is quirky and fun, she feels like someone that you could just meet and be friends with. I love that in a character. And John oh sweet John, you just need to read it to know why. I love him. In case You Missed It is just a great Rom Com, no doubt about it. It was just a pleasure to read. -Mackenzie Biblophile
