I purchased the audiobook online and have been listening to it repeatedly on my iPhone and MacBook. Why? Despite not being an engineer, at 46, I made the switch to Apple, and it completely transformed my life. Wozniak and Jobs aimed to make computers accessible and user-friendly for everyone, and they undeniably succeeded—I stand as living proof. In less than a year, Apple taught me how to create podcasts and YouTube content using iMovie. I captured a powerful moment with a homeless saxophonist named Giuseppie Logan, defying expectations as people believed he had passed away. The link to the video holds a small typo that I later corrected, but I chose to leave the original version online, as it marked a meaningful part of my learning journey. In just over a minute, my video managed to resonate with people around the world, akin to a potent film experience, all achieved on my laptop with technology I didn’t even know existed until I took Apple’s one-on-one classes. These personalized sessions, priced at $99 for an entire year, once a week, epitomize Apple’s radical approach to empowering users to truly comprehend and utilize their computers.

What makes “iWoz” so special for me? Amid the overwhelming stress levels of New York City, tuning in to “iWoz” leads to spontaneous laughter. At one juncture, he questions whether he comes across as boastful, and though I’d answer in the affirmative, he’s entitled to it, even if it’s just a hint… a mischievous grin, maybe more. Alright, perhaps quite a bit. Interestingly, I’ve now adopted the term “microprocessor” after hearing it repeatedly. I delved into “how stuff works” and discovered that the microprocessor is indeed the heart of a computer. Wozniak’s passion shines through—he’s got heart. He shares how he sold stock to devoted Apple employees before the company went public, a gesture that seemingly contributed to Apple producing more millionaires than any other public offering of its time.

Wozniak’s masterful use of semantics is evident when he navigates tricky situations, such as when he perceives that Steve Jobs has shortchanged him on an Atari project. Woz chooses to view Jobs as distinct, recognizing their differences as yin and yang dynamics that led to Apple’s birth. Jobs, a computer genius with an unparalleled ability to bring transformative ideas to life, complemented Wozniak’s innovative prowess. Their contrasting qualities synergized, forming the bedrock of Apple. As I approach my one-year anniversary of embracing Apple, I find myself turning to “iWoz” whenever life gets me down—whether it’s the intrusive closeness of New York City subway cars or someone’s deeply unsettling behavior. The act of tuning in lifts my spirits, kindles hope, fuels optimism, and consistently elicits hearty laughter. Wozniak’s emphasis on enjoying life resonates profoundly. Given the brevity of life and the relentless stress of NYC, I’ve made it a habit to replay “iWoz” incessantly. My enthusiastic endorsement goes out to this audiobook.
