Piper Rayne are an amazing writing team! I just love their books! Lessons from A One Night Stand is the perfect romance. It’s funny and sweet yet sexy and hot!! There is something about books set in small towns that immediately have me hooked! Plus, this series is set in Alaska. In my mind, it’s pure perfection!! Have you ever seen The Proposal? That Alaskan town is what I pictured when I was reading this! Austin Bailey is the oldest of the Bailey clan. He’s so likable. I tried to find something wrong with him, but there really isn’t. He’s sexy, funny, and so responsible. Without even noticing he’s such a mentor to his students. Holly Radcliffe is the new principle in town. She’s determined to only stay a few months for her short term job. Holly is the woman you automatically want to be friends with. She just so sweet and genuine. The Bailey siblings are such a great, crazy bunch! This series is one it’s way to becoming one of my favorites! It has me waiting to pack my bags and head to Lake Starlight!! Plus, I’m super curious who updates the Lake Starlight Buzz Wheel. I have a guess who it might be though.

DNF @ 46% I tried to finish, I really did. I can count my DNFs on one hand, and bailed on this book only after trying TWICE to finish a cute story that just fizzled. The premise was right up my alley: a one-night stand between strangers before finding out their embarrassing connection afterwards in a big moment. Coach Austin learns at school that the hot mystery girl he got it on with in the backseat of his Jeep is the new substitute principal for a few months, and he gets off on the wrong foot with her. Oops. They were likable, had good chemistry, and opposites-attract personalities. She’s the buttoned-up, but sexy, school professional and he’s got laid-back charm. Their problem was bad timing (another fave of mine). Austin’s got one foot out the door to finally pursue his career dreams and leave family obligations behind; and Holly is basically hiding out from her personal problems with this temp gig. Bad timing for something serious, but not for a no-strings affair. The catch was that the town gossip blog somehow knows their every private move and busts them in posts for everyone to read. Okay, I was all in until the bottom dropped out. The story dragged with more emphasis on Austin’s family and his brood of siblings (all named after the cities they where they were conceived, ha ha) than the couple and their romance. Normally, this might be kinda cute, but there was way too much filler dialogue involving the family and it kept detracting from the couple and their relationship. Too many side characters, and there were other distracting side plots, too The momentum and romance might have picked up after 46%, but if it was dragging this badly at the halfway mark, I’d rather tap out now than waste more time in hopes of a small payoff. Besides, the ending is a foregone conclusion that the couple will compromise their divergent paths in an HEA, so I really wasn’t missing anything. The writing duo is new to me, and I like their writing style enough to give them another shot. Someday, I may finish this book, but the interest just isn’t there for now, entirely due to execution.

Audiobook Lessons from a One-Night Stand (The Baileys #1) by Piper Rayne

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review** Piper Rayne has done it again! They\’ve completely sucked me into their new series (set in Alaska!) and the Bailey family is going to be such a fun one to spend time with over the next several books! Austin Bailey is the eldest of the Bailey siblings. When the inexplicable happened, Austin did what anyone would do and came home to Lake Starlight to help his family. He\’s been the baseball coach and a teacher at the high school for the past nine years, but with the dynamics changing within the family, he\’s got his heart set on living out his dream of being a college baseball coach. The catch there, is in order to do that, he has to head to the lower 48. Holly Radcliffe needed a change of scenery, but not for the reasons or in the location that her mother thought. She\’s found herself moving to Alaska from Florida and filling in for the high school principal that has just gone on maternity leave. While she\’s really in search of a missing piece of herself, truth be told she\’s still not certain she really wants to find it. When Austin meets the new interim principal, little does he know he has already met her…just under very different circumstances. In a town where everyone knows everyone AND knows everyone\’s business, will these two be able to navigate not only the growing feelings between them, but also the gossip of Lake Starlight and the fact that both of them have \”plans\” for what is to come next in their lives? I really enjoyed both Austin and Holly. They were great together, but they were also just really great people all by themselves. There were moments that made me laugh, made me hurt, made me angry and made me hope. This was a fantastic start to this new series and I simply can\’t wait to see what is in store for the Bailey siblings!

Audio Lessons from a One-Night Stand (The Baileys #1) narrated by Tanya Eby Tim Paige

Meet the Bailey family and fall in love with them! I did! Lessons from a One Night Stand is a fun, small town romance! We get to meet the the whole crazy Bailey clan that live in a small Alaskan community where everyone is in everyone’s business. This book is filled with heartfelt moments, silly antics and people who simply care about each other. Holly is the newbie in town and she caught Austin’s eye right away. After their one night together it was quite the surprise for them both when they run into each other at work. Their chemistry is immediate, their friendship is heartwarming and their future is what they decide to make it! This story is just the beginning of what looks to be a fantastic series!

Holly is new in town and after a few drinks in a bar she finds herself with a very sexy hunk. They end up in his car with Holly not thinking she would see him again. Turns out she was wrong. Austin is one of the teachers at the school she is taking over as head and theres a blog that has outed them. They agree on a fling for the three months before he hopes of a new job coaching until she is offered a permanent position and hes not sure anymore. Couldnt quite see a head of a school acting like she did but story was good.
