This has got to be one of the most complex, multi-layered stories I have read in a very long time. I really don\’t know how Mia came up with the premise of this book, but in my opinion it is nothing short of brilliant. Oh, to have lived inside her head while she wrote this book would have been one heck of a mindbender! As usual, her writing is flawless, the words on the page absolutely beautiful, poetic, lyrical. I have to admit that for the majority of the story, I had no idea if what I was reading was real or not real, true or not true. I second guessed myself at the turn of almost every page. I could not put this book down, trying desperately not to rush through to see what was going to happen next because I just knew that with the way Mia wrote this, there were clues hidden all throughout the story, and it was up to me as the reader to find them and try to draw my own conclusions before she so mercifully puts us out of our misery with a beautiful ending to a beautiful, if unconventional, love story! I will end my review with this. Please read this book! Don\’t read a whole bunch of reviews and get your head into any specific mindset before you start, and certainly do not read anything that says there are spoilers. Go into this book with a clear mind and just experience it. If you are anything like me, you will probably want to turn around and start reading it over again just to see what clues you missed along the way that would have made the story mean something else for you.

Midnight Lily audiobook in series Sign of Love

I don\’t think any review will be able to do justice to just how incredible this book is. And as many others have attested to, you really do need to go in blind. There is simply no other way to do so. Holy… wow… I will definitely need to reread this several more times in order to complete understand everything. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent reader… I don\’t often feel like I\’m missing the entire story. Welp… this book definitely changed that, and maybe others got it pretty quickly but I was lost and the only thing that truly helped me see it was the FB Midnight Lily Discussion group (if you have questions GO THERE – there are not only reader discussions but also clarification from Mia Sheridan, which I GREATLY appreciate, I know some authors don\’t want to \”explain\” their work but I\’m extremely glad MS isn\’t in that camp). So if you followed along and didn\’t need the FB group, **bow**. I was constantly on my toes and my questions were varied and many–and still WAY off the mark. As I mentioned, even at the end I was lost but I think that is what\’s incredibly special about this book–(I feel) you essentially get two books out of it. Because I have no doubt that when I reread this I will understand it so much more and see things very differently. It does need to be read without ANY sort of spoiler-like information, but that also leaves you pretty unprepared for what to pick up on… hence the second story when you reread 🙂 And I can\’t wait till I get the chance to dive back in! And that\’s all Mia… between the writing, the romance, and the execution… it\’s truly impressive. I have a \”unique\” shelf which I put this on, but this doesn\’t even touch it–honestly this deserves it\’s own shelf–I have never read anything like this before. Was it my favorite \”love story\”? No. Was it a love story that needed to be told? Absolutely. She took two characters who would otherwise be left behind by society, because as she so wisely pointed out… \”There\’s always someone society chooses not to see. There\’s always someone who is invisible through no fault of their own.\” … and gave them their happy ending. This pretty much sums up the book for me… \”Happily ever after doesn\’t mean a lifetime of perfection. I don\’t think anyone believes that happily ever after means there are no unhappy days, even unhappy years. It means loving forever, despite all the many reasons it\’s easier not to.\” I cannot recommend this enough. If you are a fan of Mia Sheridan, of should-be-impossible love stories, are not afraid of A LOT of messing with your head, then you won\’t be disappointed 🙂

Review #3

Audiobook Midnight Lily by Mia Sheridan

Midnight Lily is one of the most unconventional and unique romance novels that I have ever read. My mind is still reeling from that ending. Im confused, uplifted, and feeling so many different emotions that I can barely think straight. This book is going to mess with your mind while pulling you into the passion and undeniable chemistry between Lily and Holden(/Ryan). I bet anyone who HAS read this book can relate to my confusion, disbelief, and utter astonishment when it comes to this book. Sigh Without giving away the plot (because honestly, I dont know if I fully understand it myself), Ill leave this review as clean of spoilers as I can. This is a book about mental illness. Its a story about two damaged souls who find each other through the darkness no matter where life takes them. I dont know for sure if its considered a paranormal read, but from what I felt while reading there is a bit of mysticism within the story. The ending of the book is not clear but you can gather your thoughts and come up with some possibility of what happens by inference. There are certainly small clues scattered throughout the story that leads you to believe one thing but if thats what is actually happening is beyond me! I know, my review is confusing but to understand my mind frame right now youd have to actually read this beautiful story. While it may be a few years older, this is definitely a book I would recommend wholeheartedly to romance readers who want something DIFFERENT. Ive never read a book like this before and doubt Ill find something as raw and intense as this one.

Audio Midnight Lily narrated by Amelie Griffin Guy Locke

I am sooooo confused right now, Im really unsure what was reality and what wasnt. It was a great story and I was thoroughly enjoying the ride until I get to the WTH moment and Im like ok what about… and also… but then… what if… I definitely think this book would benefit from a reread. With the plot twists in mind Im almost certain I would look at it from a different perspective abs pick up in the more subtle clues. It was a very intricately woven plot and Im left thinking about things long after Ive finished and a good book does that but I also like a little bit of clarity so I can look back and go ahhh yes…. I remember that bit now this bit makes sense. As for the characters well who knows lol but its true what they say about birds of a feather

Ive gotta say, you never know what youre gonna to get from this amazing author because shes written some really different stories – and this novel was no different! I hardly know how to write my review for this unique tale. I feel a bit like my minds been completely blown, and Im frantically trying to gather my thoughts and make sense of what Ive just read. This story was like taking a walk along a winding path that had pitfalls here and there. You think you know where youre headed, but when you reach your destination, it isnt at all where you expected to end up! Holden is staying at a remote cabin in Colorado to get his head sorted out. Hes addicted to painkillers and his behaviour has become out of control all attributed to the loss of his best friend since childhood, Ryan. Lily is like a wraith. Holden is entirely unsure if shes real or not. However, one day, he goes into the woods nearby to search for her and finds that shes completely real. Shes innocent and beautiful, and he is completely taken with her. She makes him want to be a better man and he attempts to go cold turkey. As the story unfolds, its very obvious that something isnt quite right with the whole picture. Along the way, I fell in love with Holden and Lily, and their burgeoning relationship and connection. In spite of the horrors of their pasts (which is revealed much later), theres an innocence and purity about them, and their sweet passion. They absolutely belonged together. I was absolutely riveted to this story about two lost souls, finding and loving one another against all the odds. I was second guessing the plot the whole way through but, honestly, nothing is absolutely clear until the very last pages. The whole book seems to have a dreamlike quality about it. You just need to buy this clever, mind-bending book and find out for yourself!
