Rage Inside the Machine: The Prejudice of Algorithms, and How to Stop the Internet Making Bigots of Us All audiobook free
Having spend the better part of 30 years in the software industry, I thought I knew a lot about our current world of algorithms. I was mistaken. Rage Inside the Machine is an excellent, eye opening discussion of that subject, and even more importantly – how it came to be. It ties up history, economics, science, math (which isnt a science, thanks for nitpicking…) to deliver its points. If youre not scientifically or mathematically inclined, dont worry – this book is more about us humans than about the machines.
Admittedly I think that the author view on the limits of current AI may not hold for many years to come. There may still come a paradigm shift that will enable closer-to-true-AI. But even so, as a description of the current state of affairs and what let to it, this book is brilliant.

Rage Inside the Machine: The Prejudice of Algorithms, and How to Stop the Internet Making Bigots of Us All audiobook streamming online
The idea behind this book – that we fool ourselves into thinking that algorithms aren’t swayed by human behavior when in fact the evidence is crystal clear that they ARE – is important, and a vital reason that this book must be read by a wide audience to dispel this fiction. This book is a very important contribution to our understanding of how algorithms actually work, and as they permeate our lives to an extraordinary degree, this understanding is crucial.
There is a *fair* amount of math in the book, but not enough to be daunting, even though the author sometimes assumes a basic knowledge. The technical aspects are generally well explained, and novices should have little problem understanding the concepts that are set forth in the book.
I really enjoyed it, and I would urge the author to submit a brief summary to a popular magazine or newspaper to get the concept out into the public conversation.

Audiobook Rage Inside the Machine: The Prejudice of Algorithms, and How to Stop the Internet Making Bigots of Us All by Robert Elliott Smith
A must read. Excellent.
We live in divided times and Dr. Smiths book, Rage Inside the Machine gives insight to why. Backdrop with part memoir of the southern born author and this coming of age book for AI describes where we can all work to not be simply defined or manipulated by intolerant algorithms, newsfeeds, and social media of the day . . .

This was an interested set of chapters about the history of how computers are used to make decisions. But I don’t thing the author really touched on the “Hot to stop the internet from making bigots…”
