I don’t know where to start with this review, seeing that I am ambivalent about this book. I am amazed, annoyed and quite angry at the level of abuse (yes, it is abuse… mental and emotional abuse) that Sophie took on herself (yes, she did that all on her own.. naivety not love) in the name of stalwart love for Gavin. I am still reeling from it all. The neediness on both sides and the level of torture and self destruction among them is appalling. This book has me tripping for real.
Their love is supposed to be everlasting, love that ages like fine wine that can whether any storm and in the beginning it was that and so much more. But with unending problems occurring one after the other and the dependency is only on one person to keep the relationship together, its not surprising when things started falling apart and their relationship suffers a devastating fall out that seems irreparable.
The dynamics of the main characters is a unique but relatable relationship that gelds well together over the years of friendship until they allow outside influences and inner neglect to influence a break in their relationship. I am really mad at Gavin and the leading role he played in the destruction of himself and both relationships. Yes, I am a bit angry at Conor, but more grateful to him for picking up the pieces when needed albeit his minor/major personal objectives.

What a pleasant surprise! This author’s series came highly recommended to me by another rock star romance avid reader who appears to love the rock star romance just as much as I do. Gavin and Sophie…well I got sucked in at the very beginning and barely came up for air until I finished Marty’s story in the last book “Finding Rhythm”. This story hit many realistic scenarios, Sophie attending a full school year in Ireland, where she met Gavin and his band mates, because of how catty some of her fellow students were in California. A form of bullying. Gavin, being abandoned at a young age from his mother because of tragedy, Ian, his brother, jealous because of his success. Pressures from becoming famous world wide at a young age, never getting over how Sophie’s rejection by just leaving him when her year was up in Ireland even after he proposed, even years later when they would meet up again and wed his inner turmoil from these past issues couldn’t be quieted. After rekindling what they once shared with what they predicted as their HEA real life started but Gavin suffered disconnection from her and life opening the door to Sophie and his band mate Conor sharing unique moments together when Gavin left her to fend for herself. Gavin just wasn’t in a good head space and turning to drugs made it worse, and because of his age and miscommunication with Sophie and his rejection of her helping him, Sophie wasn’t aware he asked for space to get back on the right path for her especially since he never told her or reached out with his plans during his time away.
Just brilliant. I despise cheating and three somes in any romance novel, so much so that I usually refuse to read anything with it but when I say this is the exception I kid you not. Especially once you read this entire series, as each book is incredible, there’s no way Sophie will not be possibly your favorite heroine of all time. This author, Lara, has the skill to not only focus on each band mate individually giving them their own book but every single other band mate and character is touched upon strongly in each read. All of their day to day lives flow perfectly in each book but book one, Gavin and Sophie’s story, the introduction to Gavin, Conor, Shay “Seamus” and Martin “Marty” was exceptional, you’re just sucked in and don’t want to come up until you’ve finished Finding Rhythm. Gavin, Conor, Shay, Marty, Sophie and Felicity were there from the very beginning in high school when they were just starting to form Rogue and throughout the entire series these same characters remain a constant in each book. That is not an easy feat to accomplish but Lara did it brilliantly with much growth and maturity to each character. Their bond was felt constantly through her words and their actions not just read about.
After reading a lot of rock star reads and finally finding a more mature 5* incredible series by B.B. Miller and Leslie Carson, I’ve been extremely selective on my reads. There will be no more whiny, immature heroines for me or man whores with groupies left and right so when this recommendation was suggested to me by me voicing the same I didn’t think it was possible for someone to fulfill what Redfall has begun but Lara’s work did just that! Rogue is definitely a reread for me.
Great story, yes! Believable, yes! Characters, sublime, love them, especially the hero and heroine in this one. Cheating, yes but please press forward and read this series, it works here and I won’t say any more to not spoil it. I’m not saying it’s okay because cheating will never be okay in my opinion but it’s redeemable here. Circumstances, comes down to it here. Threesomes, no. Cursing, yes, but nothing crazy, it’s a rock star read. Sexy, yes. I recommend not only this book but the entire series.

Audiobook Tangled Up In You (Rogue #1) by Lara Ward Cosio
TANGLED UP IN YOU is an epic read that will break your heart. Surprisingly this book was written second in the ROGUE series, after PLAYING AT LOVE, but was written as a prequel. I began reading this story, as I was asked to give an honest review on it, however, I loved it so much I purchased it. Ms Cosio’s superb writing is what sold me on ths story. The depth, intensity, emotions and characters all combine to make this rock romance different from others within this genre.
This story is not for those who are feint of heart. It covers everything you expect to find in the world of rock; sex, drugs, cheating and relationships. The way in which the author presents these topics is extremely realistic – she does not “white wash” anything. As a reader, I became trapped in the world of Sophie, Gavin and Conor. A world where mistakes are made and where everyone has a guilty conscience.
This story is an absolute MUST READ, one that will touch your heart and your emotions. Once you have finished this one you’ll definitely need to read PLAYING AT LOVE, I know I’m about to. This author is most certainly going on my “go to” list

Audio Tangled Up In You (Rogue #1) narrated by Lee Brophy
I never give books bad reviews but this book was truly terrible. I had to finish it because I never just stop in between a book. I like to give it my all just incase it picks up. This book did not. The writing was awful. Alot of word were thrown in just to make the word count it seemed. It skipped years that usually would have been added into a book. I didn’t like the way it was written in third person, I have read and like books in this way but this book didn’t hit well written like that. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. Only at parts I did with Connor and Sophie but very rarely. I didn’t at all connect with Gavin. He wasn’t written well at all in the book. The storyline would be absolutely fantastic if the writing was fantastic along with it. Very disappointed and have no desire to continue the series.

I feel so much for each of the characters here. Although I do not agree with all their life choices. I hope they all get the HEA they deserve.
