I liked the setting and the story build up and the action/suspense was awesome, buuuut, I can\’t spend hours/days reading about a man constantly belittling, talking down to and insulting a woman, and then be happy at the very last page when they become a couple. God, he was awful. I don\’t respect women who fall in love with men who treat them like crap, so I didnt/don\’t like either character. His only saving grace was helping her with her mission and even That was held over her head and thrown in her face CONSTANTLY. all this basically ruins a story for me. I really like Sandra Brown, but I wish ide skipped this one. I now have to read something else immediately to was this book from my thoughts/heart. Disappointed.

This is a wonderful summer escape read. Not too much thinking just a great story you can listen to by the pool. Nice romance thrown -in

Audiobook The Devil’s Own (Hellraisers #2) by Sandra Brown
I enjoyed the first part of this story pretty well. Some have complained about the H being too mean to her. Personally, I agreed with him at that point after the things she had done to him and his work. But with just over two hours left in the story, when he kept forcing her to have sex with him and she says \”no\” multiple times and he just keeps at it, I turned it off. So I don\’t actually know what happened after that, but multiple \”nos\” was enough for me. Renee Raudman is a good narrator but I prefer Sandra Brown\’s books narrated by Victor Slezak or Stephan Lang.

The gender relations in this book are problematic. I really dont want to read/hear about a man threatening & practicing physical harm against a woman or forcing her into a kiss. This book has not aged well.

Pretty good blast from the past consistent with what was popular in category romance in 1987. I enjoyed dashing photojournalist Linc and feisty (in a 1987 kind of way) do-gooder Kerry as they rescued a band of orphans from a war zone. The fun died down in the second half after they\’re safe in America and their adventure is over. As is typical in popular category romance from 1987, Linc does something really, really mean and then swears he\’ll never hurt her again. High marks for the grovel. Very nicely narrated by Renee Raudman.
