The Nickel Boys
The narration of this chapter is done by JD Jackson and Colson Whitehead. The narration of this audiobook is quite disciplined. You will find the pace to be ideal and the accent very much easy to understand. The voices also had the emotion that was needed for the characters it has.
When Elwood Curtis got unfairly sentenced in the juvenile prison known as Nickel Academy then he discovered himself in an outrageous chamber of horrors. He was a Black guy growing up in Tallahassee in the 1960s. The only salvation of Elwood was his friendship with Turner.
It got further deep despite the conviction of Turner that Elwood is believed to be hopelessly naïve. Just as life in the Nickel Academy became a lot perilous, the tension between the ideals of Elwood and the skepticism of Turner led to a major decision. The repercussions of this decision would go on to echo right down the decades.
