The Road to Burgundy

Interest story at first, but after pages of self promotion, one begins to realize that Mr. Walker is simply a narcissist. A must read as part of follow-up to this story is an article on Burgundy Report’s website titled “The spectacular rise & fall of Maison Ilan”.

I was hoping to read an inspiring book. Instead it was a story about a grown adult acting like a child. Making one bad decision after the next. I have serious doubts that his wife was so supportive of him wasting their life savings after she just had a baby. People he has never met, just writing him checks for $100k and not expecting their money back? This book seems to be littered with lies.

What are you doing Ray! Your book is awesome, cant wait to read your bourbon book. You make great juice Ray.. keep doing what youre doing, and well drink it! Cheers!

My interest in this book was twofold. I love Pinot Noir and wanted to work at a winery in emerging Oregon which takes Pinot Noir very seriously. I was a sommelier in Florida and moved across the country to pursue my dream in 2006. It all worked out and I was at the winery for 5 years . I still love Pinot Noir and the challenges Ray Walker faced were very similar to challenges I faced in working directly in the wine industry. I thrived and so has he all thanks to perseverance and talent. The book documents his drive and hard work. Salut! And congratulations to all those who dream big and succeed.

If you are a true lover of wine, especially French wine, you will enjoy the journey the author takes to making wine in France.
