I am a particular fan of international crime fiction, especially police procedurals. Considering that this is the 10th in Alex Gray’s Lorimer series, she does a great job in continuing her characters while delivering a distinctly different plot each time out. Lorimer and his wife, Maggie, again are interesting and becoming “old friends.” The same is true for Rosie, the pathologist, and her husband, Solly. This story revolves around an enigmatic Swedish girl and her relationship to her flat mates and Father. It is quite a suspense builder, and the reader is as baffled as the police as the plot unfolds. There are many twists but no red herrings. The newly introduced characters are well-drawn and move the story on to its ultimate end. It was one of those you wish not to end quite yet! I will certainly be awaiting the next Gray offering, and I’m betting it will continue to be a good contribution to the genre. Of note is the fact that The Swedish Girl can be enjoyably read whether or not you’ve previously read Gray’s series.

The Swedish Girl audiobook in series DCI Lorimer

Like all of Alex Gray’s DCI Lorimer books, this tale take you into the inner workings of the Glasgow police headquarters. In this one, the beautiful Swedish girl found murdered in her luxury apartment is not what she seems. After a series of misconceptions are cleared away. Rosie is back at work following the birth of her daughter. Solly Brightman offers insights. Jo Grant, after a set back, makes progress on the case. Gray masterfully brings his characters to life in a plot as intricate and deep as anything in today’s headlines.

Audiobook The Swedish Girl by Alex Gray

Just when I think the DCI Lorimer series can’t get any better, Alex Gray comes up with a new twist to prove it can. Highly Recommended to all.

Audio The Swedish Girl narrated by David Monteath

I have read two books in the series and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Alexa Grays books have interesting plots and characters that you really get to know. I like this author so much that I hope to read the whole DCI Lorimer series.

As always, I am happy when a new Lorimar and Brightman appears and always snatch it up. The stories are always intriguing, captivating and keep you reading on to find out more. The characters, despite their flaws and sometimes maddening traits, are sympathetic and superbly worked out. Keep them coming Alex.
