After reading through one novella so quickly, I decided to add on another! Thank goodness for cell phones! LOL! Kristen Painters The Witchs Halloween Hero was the first novella she wrote for the series at large and I found this one to be a little more enjoyable! There was definitely a better dose of conflict in this one, but I still kind of hoped that there would be more. This is why its dangerous to read short stories! LOL!

Corette was accidentally hit with a spell her daughter has whipped up for a friend. She has forgotten all about her love for Bartholomew which makes it rather hard for Bartholomew to propose tonight like he planned at the big Halloween ball! Hes going to have to do everything he can to get Corette to fall in love with him again or else she might forget about him forever.

It was rather sweet watching Stanhill (Bartholomew) to everything he possibly could to win Corette back. And in this way, he truly was just trying to win her over. Corette has lost her memories of her love for him, but she is finding herself to slowly fall in love with this man she just met!

A short read no doubt, but one that was positively sweet! Definitely a recommendation for all fans of Nocturne Falls! And one for those who are considering wanting to try the series out but havent made a commitment yet. While the novellas might contain some minor spoilers for previous couples, it will still give you a nice taste for this little town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year! Its a series thats fun and exciting and always puts a smile on my face!

Overall Rating 4/5 stars

I fell in love with Kristen Painter’s Nocturne Falls series with the first book, The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride where we met Delaney and Hugh.

This is Stanhill’s story. Stanhill is Hugh Ellingham’s “rook” (one who is not a full vampire but serves the vampire). Stanhill is in love with the witch Corette and the story starts out with him arriving to pick her up for the annual Black and Orange Ball which is Nocturne Falls biggest social event of the year. Stanhill is nothing if not prepared for anything. His whole life is about being prepared.

What Stanhill was not prepared for was the spell that had gone wrong that was cast by Corette’s daughters and it might mean that not only would he lose her physically, but mentally as well as the spell was designed to erase memories. Stanhill was not prepared for that.

It was bittersweet, funny and sad at times with how Stanhill coped with the possible loss of his lady love if her daughters were not able to reverse the spell.

This story was short and sweet and totally Stanhill.

Kristen Painter knows how to make the improbable (paranormal) town of Nocturne Falls seem not only normal but a real fun place to go on vacation.

Audiobook The Witch’s Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter

Even knowing how things usually turn out for the best, this still had me in knots. Stanhill, Hugh Ellingham’s rook/butler, is planning to ask Corette Williams to marry him at the Black and Orange Ball Halloween night. However, a rather large problem arises when a spell goes awry and the lady doesn’t remember him anymore.

They only have until midnight to undo the spell before it becomes permanent. Watching the efforts of everyone involved made me more nervous than a little romantic fantasy ought. Guess that’s a sign of characters that really grab you when you worry as much about them as you would people you actually know. Either that or I’m just weird

Audio The Witch’s Halloween Hero narrated by B.J. Harrison

Kristen Painter has give her readers of her Nocturne Fall’s series a sweet gem of a read!

Stanhill, (a ‘rook’ to vampire Hugh Ellingham), is not quite a vampire himself. For a few years now, Stanhill has courted Corette, (a witch who has three daughters). Kristen Painter has given us glimpses of Corette and Stanhill throughout her Nocturne Falls novels and novellas. It was so nice to have their love story shared.

Stanhill arrives to escort his love, Corette to the annual Black and Orange Ball. Unfortunately, due a mix up with a spell by her witch daughter’s, Corette memories are wiped clean. If the spell cannot be reversed, the love that has grown over the years will be gone forever.

This story is a wonderful read. A sweet gift from a talented writer!

Loved this short story. Corette is affected by a spell, and the only one who can help her is her boyfriend Stanhill. She only has until midnight to break the spell. Poor Stanhill can not understand what is wrong with his date and why his girlfriend doesn’t seam to remember him. Her daughter goes to the party to explain what happened with the wacked out spell, and to ask her Mom for help. I laughed out loud while reading this book. Well worth the cost and doesn’t need to be read with other Nocturne Falls books.
