Under His Protection is Book 9 in Katie Reus’ Red Stone Security Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone and you don’t need to read the series to enjoy it. I cannot say enough good things about this book series. I know I am a total fan girl of Ms. Reus’ writing, especially her romantic suspense. Under His Protection is the story of Ivan Mitchell and Julieta Mederos. Julieta first meets Ivan when he comes into her lingerie shop with someone he is protecting. He is a new employee at Red Stone but not new to security. Julieta and Ivan come into contact with each other in the next few months. While Ivan steals looks at Julieta – she thinks that he doesn’t like her. Julieta has been warned that Ivan is a “player” and at first she is hesitant to trust him. Ivan discovers that Julieta has a stalker and uses this opportunity to “help” her and also to acknowledge his feelings for her. The suspense is this book was well written. While you may be able to guess who the stalker is there a few paths you could go down to come to the conclusion. The characters are well-developed and there are some cameo appearances from a few characters in previous Red Stone books. There is heat and chemistry between Julieta and Ivan and some pretty hot goings on but that does not take away from the book and it is not the focus of the book – it enhances the way the relationship between Ivan and Julieta develops. There is enough suspense and heat in the book to satisfy both types of readers.

The chemistry is powerful between them, but Julieta plans to keep him at arm’s length. Julieta and Ivan must stay focused because her life is at risk. But, as they spend more time together, both are slowly tearing down the walls they had built up around them. This is wonderful fast paced novel with mystery and twists and turns. And, did I say the passion is so hot you may need a fan. Don’t miss this one!!!

I liked MOST of this book. What I didn\’t like was that the F bomb was dropped a lot for no reason (mainly the first half). I didn\’t like that the last 1/4 of it was so rushed. I didn\’t get them sleeping in the bed together for four or five days, they fooled around but didn\’t have sex. I didn\’t like that we are never told why the bad guy was the way he was, or what he did to his other victims. He was a really creepy guy, but how did he get that way? With all that said, I still really liked the book. I liked the characters. I like what they did for a living. I liked that her family was in the book & past characters. No tstl moments. I think Ms. Reus is a talented lady, & if it was a longer book it would have probably solved most of my gripes. Will be reading more from this author.

This is not my favorite in the series, but it\’s still good. The characters are believable, they don\’t do anything increadibly stupid and the villian isn\’t obvious. The only part I struggled with was trying to understand why these two characters fell in love. Yes, there\’s danger, and he is protective. She\’s gorgeous and he\’s wanted her since the first time he saw her, but nothing really explains or shows why although he\’s never wanted to be in a relationship before he suddenly finds himself in love with her. Despite that, it\’s a quick and enjoyable read and I will continue to read the series.

Another winner from Katie Reus. Ivan is on bodyguard duty when he first meets Julieta. She owns her own lingerie store and the lady he brings in needs something sexy to impress her husband with. Through that she befriends the woman and therefore sees a lot of Ivan. She thinks he doesn\’t like her because he\’s always glaring at her. Truth is, it takes everything in him to keep his eyes off her. When she\’s threatened by a stalker, he takes it upon himself to come to her rescue. Plenty of suspense, lots of sexual tension and while the plot is familiar, it keeps you turning the pages. Very entertaining.
