So this is the first book in a series. I\’m up to book 6 now. Leda joins the Legion of Angles after her brother is kidnapped. Each book has her trying to level up her magic and mastering a new power while dealing with a new mission. At the same time a war is coming between the forces off heavan and hell. What I liked about the series is its plays with the concept off good vs evil. On tv tropes.com they would call it Good is not nice. The Gods in this story seem closer to greek Gods and while we haven\’t fully explored the other half I think were going to be suprised too. I really like the relationship between Leda and Nero. It builds gradually over the course off 6 books and it is still growing. They have nice chemistry Leda is tough and an engaging read. She does have some flaws. She tries to see the good in everybody and that sometimes bites her in the butt. There is a lot off mystery going on in the background but the story doesn\’t just give you the answers. I \’m still engaged after 6 books. More so in fact. Usually when you have a long running series you get tired and the story loses its steam, this story however is building. I\’m exited for the next one. Iliking them more and more. The series is not without it\’s flaws. After rereading the series I got to say you can really see how Ella Summers has improved as a writer. The first few books doesn\’t have any major flaws. But the writing becomes sharper. Action scenes are better. Characters are more fleshed out. Let me say I enjoyed the first few books. Leda\’s interesting the world was totally my drama. It was a fun read but I wasn\’t wowed. As the books went on though I was more and more drawn in I can honestly say I loved these last few books. Give this series a shot.

Vampire’s Kiss (Legion of Angels #1) audiobook in series Legion of Angels

I love this series!! I would describe this story as a NA urban fantasy with romance. Leda, the main character, is very likeable. While she possesses some kick-butt skills, her foibles enable me to relate to her (and I get to live vicariously through her my adolescent desires to be a super hero). The writing is very smooth and kept me engaged. The story is a slightly new take on paranormals (e.g., angels, vamps, etc.). The romance progresses, but not so quickly as to be unbelievable. All in all, I rate this series 5 stars because: didn\’t hate it (+1 star), finished it without skimming (+1 star), liked the main character and supporting characters, actions believable (+1 star), story was believable, new, engaging without lagging (+1 star) have re-read it (+1 star). Highly recommended!! I believe the books so far (up through #4) each deserve 5 stars.

Audiobook Vampire’s Kiss (Legion of Angels #1) by Ella Summers

The book had a nice hook, but by about 40% it had lost anything that made it unique. We had a unthinkingly mouthy female lead, a \”school\” complete with establishment bullies, a love interest that started as a \”I hate you\” situation, and all the cliches you could want. So I stopped reading and moved on to the next book on my list. Then I ran across the description for the 6th book in the series and it sounded so enjoyable, I decided to dig this one out of the did-not-finish pile. I backed up a couple chapters from where I quit and found that I was able to make it through the end and enjoy it. It\’s still not the most original book out there, but the world did gain a bit more complexity and the characters did develop some more.

Audio Vampire’s Kiss (Legion of Angels #1) narrated by Cris Dukehart

Is anyone \”human\”? Not in the actual sense of the term but emotionally? None of these characters are \”people\”. Her brother gets kidnapped in answer to this the heroine joins the military to get stronger. But she also goes to at least two clubs to have fun, has time for hurt feelings over guys, and has picked a path that will take time to climb up the ranks before she can even go find him. What?! Why are there no deep periods of inner turmoil that she is leaving him to a possibly horrible fate while she eats and sleeps in comfort? Don\’t worry it\’s not just her though. Any character that is on screen for more than 2-3 chapters is an emotionless monster. Like the childhood friends that join love each other but are blind to the fact that they like each other back. Sweet side story? Nope. The girl proceeds to dance with 3 guys and allows one to sensually feed her drugging drops and make out. Think that\’s the moment they are spurred to the next level? Nope, he wasn\’t there to see it and it is never mentioned again. Why is it even written? The only character with real depth was Harker and we aren\’t supposed to like him. The heroine also jumps to correct conclusions with little information; Higher ranking competent officers telling her classified information just because or how they in their years of experience and caution didn\’t see the setup that this rookie did. The breaches in protocol for no reason; Perhaps writing about the military without applying research was a bad plan. The fighting scenes seems to have been constructed by someone who either doesn\’t know what they are doing or by one who assumes you can fill in the parts that were skipped so we can get back to the story.

What drew me into this book is that it\’s something completely different and new to what I\’ve read before. The title of the book did worry me at first as I thought it would be all about vampires (and they\’re not my favourite creatures) but really this book is more to do with Angels, but not as we typically know them. There were some steampunk elements to this Urban Fantasy boo and I definitely enjoyed reading those moments as I am a huge steampunk fan, however it wasn\’t overly obvious so if you\’re not a fan you don\’t need to worry about it overtaking the book. Leda, who is our kickass lead female is a great character with the right amount of sassyness and wit thrown in to make me laugh out loud several times whilst reading. Nero, who is the main male has got the right mix of bad and good to his character (I love me a bad male but who can also show some compassion and caring at times) I loved the tension there is between the two of them. Personally I love a slow build of romance it\’s all the will they or won\’t they that makes it so exciting, and there was definitely the right mix there to keep me satisfied as I really dislike a too fast romance (to me it\’s all that build up tension that I enjoy) I have to warn you though that I was left with a massive book hangover after reading this book and I just couldn\’t pick up anything else to read. I really do need the next book in this series ASAP as I impatiently want to know what\’s going to happen next. This book deserves more than the maximum 5 stars I have given and I recommend you pick it up and try it for yourself too, just be prepared to not want to read anything else after finishing this one
