This story is delightful, “almost” fairy tale like, and yes, the hero’s complete turn about in his feelings and beliefs, are not very realistic (if at all). But for me that is the whole point of reading romance books, to escape the harsh realities of life. The fact that there were no very explicit love scenes, was a fabulous bonus for me ( I can use my imagination, thank you, very much). I also appreciated that the ending was not rushed, as a matter of fact, it was quite satisfying.

The plot line was so romantic, humorous, and entertaining, and very touching too. I loved, that the hero was instantly smitten, and that the reader got a lot of his point of view,- and his inner musings/conflicts were so funny and adorable.. I loved that the heroine was beautiful, smart and no push-over, even when she was very attracted to the hero, she refused to allow him to use her as a doormat. At times she even stopped his amorous advances, unlike most heroines, who tend to lose all pride, and perspective, basically willing to give in completely, in the middle of a crowd if need be, and it is the hero who usually, comes to his senses (I really hate that). I loved the secondary characters: the girls, and the match-making Lady. Bu above all I was over the moon, that this story was (for the most part) driven by the hero’s feelings for her, not the other way around. It is so very difficult to find a romance book with this scenario!!!!!! Thus, I completely enjoyed the story, savoring every minute of my reading, and so sad to see it come to an end..

Kristin Vayden wrote an engaging tale in What the Duke Wants! What happens when a duke, who just so happens to be one of the tons most notorious rakes, suddenly and unexpectedly becomes guardian to three young ladies? And then has a housekeeper who hires a gorgeous, irresistible governess to watch over these young wards? Will the duke fall for his governess? Is that what the duke wants?

Both Kristin Vaydens writing and the story flowed beautifully. I just adored the characters and their interactions with each other. The dialogue is full of fun, witty banter that leaves you feeling connected to the characters and as if you were sitting there eavesdropping on their conversations.

I highly recommend this book I enjoyed it so much I have already read it twice and it has only been out two days! This is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys Regency romance, magnificent banter between characters and a couple with fabulous chemistry and the makings of a great love story.

Audiobook What the Duke Wants (Greenford Waters Legacy #1) by Kristin Vayden

I thought overall the series was very good. I liked the characters and like how you find them in the other books in a series. But I only gave it a 3 star rating because there were too many bloody… pick your word. Perhaps men in that era spoke like that but the word bloody shows up on almost every page whether the a character is talking too someone else or thinking to themselves. Once in awhile is okay but I almost quit reading To Tempt an earl because it was one bloody hell etc. through out the book. To me when people rely on profanity its because their vocabulary is limited. Even the women used the term either with a sister or when they were thinking to themselves.

Audio What the Duke Wants (Greenford Waters Legacy #1) narrated by Eugenie Watson

First let me say I purchased this book comparing it to another from Lisa Kleypas. She did a set of book about the Hathaways and their governess Catherine Marks. This book was very similar. The further I read the more I compared the two, it was hard not to. The book did start to take it’s own twists and turns but by then I missed the way LK’s books were written and it was hard for me to enjoy this book for what it was. That was the disappointment. It did end nicely but the hero (Charles) was no Leo from LK’s book ,unfortunately, and Carlotta ( hated the name) was no Catherine Marks.
There were a lot of comments made about the indecency of Charles and his lack of self control. He did seem to contradict himself but I think that showed his passion for the heroin so it didn’t bother me and they were kisses. Some of the reviews lead me to believe they were more, they weren’t. The books I usually read in this genre do escalate these passionate scenes so I missed that in this book. I think if I wouldn’t have went in with another book already in mind I would have enjoyed it more.

I loved this book. Its funny, and entertaining. A good read without distracting typos and grammatical errors. It was everything a book should be.
The handsome, wealthy Duke of Clairmont is demanding and very set in his ways. He also has a reputation for being a rake with the ladies. He can have any woman he wants, and with a mere glance, they practically fall at his feet. However, he has no intention of marrying and settling down for a very long time. Suddenly he finds his carefree life turned upside down when he becomes the guardian of three young female relatives who have lost both their parents .
He decides he needs to hire a Governess and ship them off immediately to one of his country estates so they do not interfere with him or his lifestyle in London. This is when the story unfolds and the fun begins. He finds, despite himself, that hes drawn to the one woman that he cant have. The new Governess. He acknowledges that shes forbidden fruit because she is his employee and, after all, he is a Duke. However, hes in the habit of getting want he wants, and he wants her even more when she rebuffs him.
Then there is the matter of one Lady Stonebridge. She is his best friends much older meddling sister and about the only person the Duke is truly terrified of. She constantly meddles in both her brothers life and his. She has decided its her mission to find a wife for him. Their banter provides some of the funniest moments in the book. It will have you smiling, if not laughing outright. This book is a keeper and one I plan on saving in my Kindle and reading again. I hope you decide to read it too. You wont be disappointed.
