She’s raped by his brother the night she confesses her love to Ty and he walks away for five years with another woman. When he finds out it was his brother he refuses to believe her and implies she misremembered what happened because she had been drinking. Then her horrible friend Quinn tells her that she overreacted and needs to apologize to him. NO. They’re both trash humans. She has every reason to kick him out of her life for good but she’s a doormat and gives in, apologizing to him for her VERY justified reaction. I hated him after that. And, wtf did Levi go?! He disappears at like 50% and never comes back up. Also, why did Ty break his engagement and return?! That’s never discussed. Wish Levi and Harley had ended up together. Ty treated her terribly throughout the book. She cries ALL THE TIME.

I tried. I honestly tried. But it’s books like this that make me wish that AO3s tagging system existed for published fic.
The characters were very juvenile but what got me and what made me nope out of the story was the rape-as-drama by the hero’s brother.
Just nope.
DNF triggered.
One star.

Audiobook Where We Belong (A Touch of Fate #1) by K. L. Grayson
So this book was well written. I liked how emotional t made me when I read it. So for those reasons the book should be 5 star. However, the story line and obnoxious characters make it so much less.
Harley- what a weak individual. She pretty much allows Quinn to boss her into doing everything, she is Quinn’s puppet. She also forgives the unforgivable. Why not Levy? Or ANY other man. Anyone aside from the one who abandoned you when you needed him most.
Tyson- what a genuine, grade A, @$$hole. I couldn’t dislike a character anymore if I tried. He comes running back after choosing another woman for years, which by the way there is no explanation as to why that ended or why he returned home. He was no better than Dallas, in my opinion. His acceptance by his friends after what he put Harley through was bull$h!t!! That leads me to…
The friends-Quinn was obnoxious and too loud and bossy. Every time she interjected and pushed Harley to do something it ended in severe heart ache and then she talks her into laying down and rolling over and accepting that Harley is wrong. WTF kind of BFF is that. Levy- was great. I only wish there was more there between him and Harley bc he is an amazing human being. I was angry that he just fell off when Ty returned. I am also pissed that he forgave Ty for walking away all their years ago. He cleaned up the mess and filled a role for Harley and they both just walked when the offender returns. No. Just hell no.
This author has a gift. Her writing is incredible and emotional. The content and direction of this book just angered me so greatly that I couldn’t offer a higher rating.

Audio Where We Belong (A Touch of Fate #1) narrated by Joe Arden Samantha Prescott
This was an enjoyable book despite the fact that there was immediate heartache in the beginning. This book was the story of Tyson and Harley. It was told in dual POVs and we are introduced to the fact our protagonists grew up together as babies and became best friends as children and all the way through college. Harley revealed to Tyson her friendship had become more on the day of their college graduation. It was not an unrequited love, but there was no HEA at the end of that day. Five years pass and they are thrown back together because of work and mutual friends. Tyson finally realized that Harley was the love of his life and now had to prove and fight for her because of Harley’s current situation. I loved the interaction between Tyson and the third party possibly hindering Harley and his HEA. Not surprisingly, they were so funny and happy. The author did a great job in building the anticipation of their coupling. You are at the edge of your seats while reading, wondering if it will ever happen. You will enjoy reading this book because of that along with the witty and funny dialogue and the interesting and laughable inner thoughts of the characters.

Somewhat spoilerish……… I really wish authors could write heroines and heroes who don’t act 13. Seriously if you can’t communicate, don’t get into a relationship. Because it’s usually not a HEA in reality like it is in books. The H’s reaction to the big bombshell was totally normal, but we’re supposed to believe he’s wrong for reacting that way. And I say this as someone who’s been raped. People need time to let it sink in. I’m not saying don’t believe victims. Not at all. I’m saying that hearing that someone you’ve known and loved your entire life is capable of horrific acts is shocking. And it needs time to sink in. I likes the writing, I just don’t like the way certain situations are presented. That’s where communicate is key. If the h had told the H, hey, I’ll give you time for this to sink in, to process it, to get your head around this truth, that would be maturity. I felt like I was reading about the emotions of teenagers, not a doctor and a nurse. Just my 2!
