The Bird That Did Not Sing

I have become quite fond of DCI Lorimer and Maggie. I Will miss them because I have read the whole series. Alex Gray produces believable and likable characters and plots. I highly recommend her books to all Lovers of British mystery.

Lorimore has his hands full. His high school sweetheart is staying with him (much to his wife’s chagrin) following the death of her husband, he is investigating the murder of a young Nigerian girl whose body was found in a swamp, and he’s seconded to security forces (so secret he cannot even tell his wife) investigating a terrorist plot to bomb the Commonwealth Games. The various cases touch but do not mesh. Though he is offered a position in the spy business, he decides he loves the job he already has.

After a long wait its always a wonder if it’s going to be as good as the last. But
here Alex Gray has continued her brilliant series with all the clever weaving of multiple stories into one grand climax.
Always great to travel around Glasgow with her subjects. Down streets, into pubs that we’ve all probably passed a hundred times but will now think of a little bit different.
Don’t let the next one take too long, Ms. Gray.
I’ll be eagerly waiting.

Wonder plotting. Great characters and local detail. This is my second DID Lorimer mystery and I’m getting ready to read them all. Thanks, Alex Gray and to Amazon for bringing his books to my attention.

It was a little long for me these days and interesting while in some ways boring at times. Over all it was a good book.
