When I first discovered Meghan Quinn I found her books hilarious. Lately, however, I’m not that happy with them. Some of the language is too raunchy and not necessary and usually involves characters that would never speak that way in real life …. let’s be real. With this book in particular, I did not enjoy the flashbacks at all and thought they took away from the current story line. We didn’t need the flashbacks to understand their angst. Also, the complete turn around of the character Rogan after his “accident” was quite unbelievable. At least I didn’t believe it. And throughout the entire book, Harper was “trying to find herself” and it didn’t seem she did so at the end. I mean … again …. she wrapped herself up in Rogan even choosing her “career” that involved him directly. Also, her past relationship didn’t make sense as she was continually described as a “strong woman” who “had her own voice” and would be the only one to “stand up to Rogan”. She was very unlikable and a bit whiny. I hope that authors, not just Meghan Quinn, read reviews and listen to their readers. I think when we get favorite authors , we allow not so great books to get 5 stars because we want their success to continue. But like any profession that deals with people, opinions and feelings matter. I think this book had great potential – the dialogue between the brothers were, in my opinion, the best part, it just fell short with the main characters.

It felt like I waited for this book forever, when in reality it was just a small handful of months. The wait was well worth it. Now I am chomping at the bit for the next two books!
I tend to enjoy this author’s writing. She is entertaining and engaging. Her characters jump out at you and grab your hand, taking you on their journey. This one is no different. I was all-in once I started this book.
There is nothing better than second chance romance and enemy to lovers romance all in one. I am a sucker for them, when written well. And this one is written extremely well. I giggled. I smiled. I frowned. I got a little mad. I went through the characters’ emotions right along with them.
I am always curious if the author can keep the stories originalin standalone series like this. Quinn doesn’t disappoint with unique storylines for each of her characters. Bring on book three, please!

Audiobook That Forever Girl (Getting Lucky #2) by Meghan Quinn
I will start by saying that Meghan Quinn is a great author. I appreciate many of her stories, and the first book in this series was just precious. This story, though, was very hard to for me to appreciate. I must echo what other reviewers have noted…verbal/emotional abuse is just as horrific as physical abuse, and Rogan was exceedingly verbally/emotionally abusive to Harper and it set a tone in the book that I could not get past. It was very hard for me to support Rogan and Harper’s reunion…he was so very cruel to her in the past as well as when she first returned to town. I understand stories about forgiveness, but Rogan’s ability to belittle and disrespect Harper, followed by her eventual response of easy forgiveness delivered an unhealthy theme in my opinion. I recognize that Rogan was in a bad place, but I wish his story was about therapy, personal growth, and finding a new love. I do not feel that his story should have been a reunion story…it was too hard to accept after his abusive behaviors to Harper.
I will continue reading the series, as I do love the Knightly crew, and I am very much looking forward to Reid’s and Brigg’s stories. But I felt the need to leave this review (I have never left a review before) because I was so upset about the extent of verbal/emotional abuse in this story, and that the characters still reunited. In my opinion, the theming of this story did not portray a healthy relationship or resolution.

Audio That Forever Girl (Getting Lucky #2) narrated by Reese Covington William LeRoy
Rogan Knightly is a totally different person than he used to be. Sure he is successful in his real estate business, and has a loving family, but hes also closed off and when it comes to his love life, its pretty much nonexistent, thanks to the girl he pushed away. When word gets out that Harper is back in town, Rogan isnt sure what to feel, all he knows is that he cant stop thinking about Harper.
Port Snow is the last place that Harper Sanders wanted to return to after Rogan Knightly broke her heart so epically all those years ago. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) circumstances have brought her back. Shes determined not to let Rogan affect her, and not to relive those memories from their childhoods. However the more time they are forced to spend together, the more they both realize they still want each other. Can they let go of the past and move forward, or will the past keep them apart?
Rogan Knightly is my absolute favorite. There is something about a broody guy that Im just drawn too. I love the second chance romance of this book, with almost a dash of enemies to lovers thrown in. I was captivated from the very beginning, and I love that we got to go back and forth between then and now, as well as the dual points of view. I enjoy seeing how each character reacts to situations and what is going through their minds when certain things are happening. Meghan Quinn always rights such feel good romances, and That Forever Girl was no exception. I am ready for the next Knightly brother to get his happily ever after!

Waited what felt like ages for this book to come out! I SO enjoyed the first book in the series, I couldn’t wait to get stuck into this one.
Awww! Reid and Brig had me laughing out loud! What a pair! I reckon it’s Brig’s turn next 🙂 and I’ve already pre-ordered Book#3. Rogen’s story felt more intense … Partly because of his character I suppose. But it felt like everything was amped up a bit more than in the first book (especially the sex!) .. Which is not a bad thing really! Both Rogen and Harper had shared a poignant history after all, unlike Griffin and Ren in the first book.
I’d say the only reason I knocked out a couple of stars was because I PERSONALLY was expecting the same light, happy reading experience of the first book. For my current state of mind, this was a bit draining and upsetting; The fact that Harper had been physically abused put a bit of a damper on my mood while reading this.
