THE AFFAIR audio
Lee Child introduced Jack Reacher as a lone fighter when the series began many years back. Then in Die Trying the audience was told that Jack once belonged to the army. Why he left the army was a question that was never answered. Bad Luck and Trouble further added the information that he was not just an ordinary soldier rather he was a member of an elite squad.
After fifteen books this latest tells what happened to Jack after which he became the killing machine which he is today. Mississippi railway track became a crime scene many years back when a woman’s dead body was found lying on the track. Most of the people living close by claimed that they saw an army officer killing the woman with their own eyes.

The evidence also hinted toward the same officer but no one arrested him because of his influential approach. Jack was in the army then and he was sent to investigate secretly after which he was ordered to report directly to the higher authorities about the matter. With Dick Hill’s narration, we like listening to the old times when Jack was just a young lad recruited in the army and given his first big mission perhaps. Soon this mission becomes Jack’s last as an army officer because he finds himself trapped in a big conspiracy.
This young soldier takes the case and judgment into his own hands after that. Since then Reacher does not take orders from anyone and the missions are always self-assigned. When someone is proved guilty the punishment is also given by Jack Reacher and not the court of law.
