This is the second book to the Spell Weaver series and there is just so much to say about it! I cannot believe that Marie has been able to do it AGAIN with such an amazing, adventurous, action-packed series! She is just absolutely phenomenal and her writing is the reason why I have not strayed from her series to read any other books yet.
This book picks up from where the first one left off; and when the first on ended, there was no telling how the second one would go. There were just too many possibilities after the first one that it was a wonder as to what would happen in this second book.
Starting with the storyline; there were so many plot twists and surprises that it kept me wanting to read more. But with that also, there were so many touching and heart felt moments where you can’t help but love these two very similar but very different characters. At the same time, Marie does an excellent job of keeping the other characters relevant and they just mesh really well with the story and what’s going on. The character development from the first book isn’t drastic, but when you reflect on the characters, it easy to see that they are growing with the story. They are developing with all of their experiences and it’s just all really cohesive.
I will admit that this book wasn’t the rollercoaster that the first one was, but it was just as action-packed and there was so much more to the story that made it that much more enjoyable. I liked that this book really delved into the lives and past of the characters themselves because it really opens up the relationship that as a reader, I am developing with these characters. I am going to be brutally honest here, and say that I am impartial to Piper from the Steel & Stone series and was honestly a little skeptical about this new heroine that is Clio, BUT with an open mind, as taste for adventure, and a love for this world that Marie has created, I absolutely love Clio. I can have room for both of these very different, but very strong and empowering heroines. And of course, who isn’t going to love Lyre, even in this time of his life. This series is not going to disappoint! I am looking forward to starting the third book, but I am also sad because that would mean the end of this world for me for now. I am really, really glad that I happened about the Steel & Stone series that allowed me to fall into the Spell Weaver series. If I could live in this world, I WOULD!

This book lived up to every expectation that I had after finishing The Night Realm. Every part of me wants to shout from the rooftops how very much I adore this author! She is such a gifted storyteller!
The world building is expanded upon when we get to experience another part of the Overworld. I really love all of the distinctions that Marie makes when describing the different realms. Each caste has its own architecture, landscape, and people and they all described so vividly. You can actually feel yourself walking in the main character’s shoes and experiencing the world right along with them.
The plot is so epically put together that it almost boggles my mind. There is usually room for nitpicking pieces of the plot no matter whom the author it, but that is not the case with Marie’s books. This one is no exception. She weaves the plot of this story like Lyre weaves his spells. Lyre is a master weaver, and so is Annette Marie. I love how seamless the plot is while being spellbinding at the same time. The reader just wants more, insatiably so.
This book is well rounded with the brilliant world-building, immaculate and compelling plot, and characters that you just want to immerse all of your senses with. Marie makes it so effortless to adore these characters. They feel so real. They have flaws and problems like everyone else, and at the same time the good parts about them shine through. The relationships that are forged are strong, a product of impeccable writing. The chemistry between the characters is tantalizing. It gives you all of the feels. So many that you are drowning in them. And on the plus side, those that have already read Marie’s Steel & Stone series already have a foundation for a few of these characters so the writing in this series brings them even more to life.
Overall, this series will captivate you! Annette Marie is a must read author. She is such a writing queen! I can’t recommend this series enough! If you are an urban fantasy fan that appreciates strong world-building, complex characters, and a riveting plot then read this. Read all of Marie’s books! They will sweep you off of your feet and you will beg for more.

Audiobook The Shadow Weave (Spell Weaver #2) by Annette Marie
This is the second book in the Spell Weaver trilogy. I have been really enjoying this series. It is a fun and easy urban fantasy read. I enjoyed learning more about Lyre and Clio.
In this book Lyre and Clio have fled the Underworld and are looking for a safe haven as well as trying to figure out how to retrieve Lyres potentially world-ending KLOK device.
I loved getting to spend time in the Overworld, it was very magical. I also really enjoyed the chemistry between Lyre and Clio. The storyline here is pretty simple.
Maries strengths have always been writing amazing action scenes and having wonderful chemistry between her leads and that continues in this book. While these books arent masterpieces…they are quick fun reads that I always find very entertaining and enjoyable.
Overall this was another entertaining read by Marie and a great addition to this series. I really love the characters, the action, the spell weaving, and getting to journey to the Overworld. I would recommend this series to those who enjoy lighter urban fantasy reads.

Audio The Shadow Weave (Spell Weaver #2) narrated by Greg Tremblay Melissa Moran
This book is out of this world!! Annette Marie is one talented writer, her imagination & attention to detail is incredible.
In this second book we get to see Lyre & Clio romance blossom. Clio really comes into her on & kicks ass!! A young Piper makes an appearance & of course my favourite Ash is in this book a lot more than the first, it was nice to see how their friendship formed to what it is in the Steel & Stone series.
Throughout this book I found myself holding my breath because some of the scenes we so gripping & I was there in the book with the characters. This book is a MUST read!! You wont be disappointed & the best part is Annette Marie doesnt keep her readers waiting long – the 3rd book comes in a few weeks & can pre-order now. 😉

I’m on the third book The Blood Curse but overall this is a really good series, solid characters, storyline and world detail adn veyr good pacing for the books, and the author kindly does not leave each book with the heroes about to die. Having a temporary breather yes but not about to die.
