I enjoyed the first book in this series very much. The second was less great, but I figured I would give this third and final installment a chance to wow me. And besides, being a bridge is never easy, so I tried to give the second book a bit of a break. This review is full of spoilers. Seriously! **SPOILERS AHEAD** Frankly I\’m angry that I wasted my time reading \”Fury\”. After carefully, skillfully building a world ripe with intrigue, secrets, monsters, cryptids, social unrest, drama, disappearances, Jim Crow era-esque treatment of people, mysterious entities and imposters, etc…. Rachel Vincent has THE GALL to end the series like this? We get no follow-through regarding WHO exactly the mysterious surrogates were, WHY they wanted to \”feed\” like parasites off of humanity\’s fear, unrest, and chaos, WHERE they were from, or HOW they managed to snatch away 300,000+ BABIES from HOSPITALS, which have STRINGENT PROTOCOLS IN PLACE TO PREVENT BABY-NAPPINGS. WHY WERE THEY IDENTICAL? WHY WERE THEY MYSTERIOUSLY DRAWN TO DELILAH? WHY DIDN\’T THEY TRY TO KILL HER TOO, if they were supposedly so murderous? AND WHAT ABOUT THE FURIAE? WHY did DELILAH get chosen? I have so many questions about this \”furiae\” entity who makes Delilah sound like she\’s schizophrenic. Where is this entity from? Why is it a \”she\”? Why are her interactions so slow in the first book and so quick in the second and third novels? Why does she exist at all? What about OTHER \”universal\” entities for \”universal\” truths? WHERE ARE THEY? WOULD IT NOT HAVE MADE SENSE TO AT LEAST MENTION THEM, MS. VINCENT? Who actually cares about her older sister Rebecca? You can\’t just introduce her via a BLURB and some mildly kind teacherly behavior in the first book and then suddenly try to make her a heroine WHO ABANDONED HER ADOPTED DAUGHTER TO DIE FOR HER SECRET SISTER/STUDENT. Her adopted daughter was like 6! What was she thinking?! She left her adopted daughter to be raised by her own grandmother! WHO is the Baby Manager Fae Woman in the mirror? What was her deal? WHY ARE YOU TRADING BABIES AROUND, MA\’AM? THIS IS NOT \”WIFE SWAP\”. I call bull. I was willing to let the ridiculousness of Book 2\’s weird unexpected secret pregnancy slide (spoiler alert: a woman doesn\’t automatically think she\’s pregnant because she\’s emotional and feels nauseous, and EVEN IF she did, she is almost never correct), EVEN when it made no sense AT ALL from a plot or pacing perspective, EVEN when Vincent didn\’t actually let Delilah deal with the pain and trauma of being raped AND THEN getting pregnant from one of those rapes, EVEN when Vincent was too lazy to write Delilah going back and remembering the 8 weeks she had paid an imprisoned little girl a cookie to make her forget, EVEN WHEN VINCENT MADE ONE OF HER RAPISTS GALLAGHER, HER SWORN PROTECTOR YADDA YADDA, WHO WAS SUPPOSEDLY IN LOVE WITH HER, EVEN when Vincent spent pages and pages having Delilah and Gallagher dialogue about their murderous intent for her other rapist and then TOOK US AWAY FROM THAT SCENE so Delilah could wander downstairs for A GLASS OF WATER and then go outside, make a dude rip out his own throat, and then whine about it. For God\’s sake. We as readers have been emotionally manipulated. If you\’re going to write a series of books, be prepared to WRITE them. Be prepared to do all the work! Be prepared to flesh out each one fully! Don\’t leave us with questions! I am appalled. I am returning my copy of the book. I\’m getting my money back and spending it on a shot of the best whiskey my bar has, so I can drown my sorrow at this crap-shoot ending to what could have been a really, really great book series.

This was definitely a bittersweet end to the series. And I guess with how heavy this series has been, I should have seen it coming, but truth be told I didnt and it definitely hurt my heart. I have come to love these characters so much and watching them hurt even more than they already have hurt me. I adore Delilah. She is so strong and smart and a fighter. She is coming to terms with a lot in this book, but I love how she always pushes through. And Gallagher absolutely owns my heart. I just absolutely love him and I love how bloodthirsty he can be. And Eryx! Adore him so much! I just love this entire self-made family. I will say though, that while overall I love this series and really liked this book, to me the ending felt a bit rushed. I just.the climax came up so fast and then was just done in a snap. I also still have some questions that I would love answered. There is nothing that makes me feel like the book isnt complete, but just things I would have liked to know some more details on and whys behind. Honestly, the book just didnt stick the landing in some ways and it really bums me out. Overall, though, I would still recommend this series. I love these characters and the concept really is intriguing. Its so heavy but its still such a good series.

Audiobook Fury (Menagerie #3) by Rachel Vincent

I finished this book a few hours ago and I\’m still numb from the wringer it put me through. A beautiful, complex ending to a fantastic trilogy, though I would have loved to read many more books about Delilah and the gang!
