I really enjoyed hearing Rachel’s testimony and wisdom regarding money. While i may not be 100% on board with everything she says, i loved the introspection regarding our money habits.
I have been an avid reader of Ramsey solutions for a while. However this book digs so much deeper into why we treat money the way we do, and reasonable solutions to approaching money. Absolutely loved this book

Know Yourself, Know Your Money audiobook
This book was excellent. Easy to read and the information all made sense. I would recommend this book if you are struggling to control your spending habits. Or if you are having difficulty understanding your partners spending habits.
I love the concept, I really do! But the written content reads so poorly. I am convinced all the book endorsements were for the ideas and not the writing. It reads as if it were the dictation of a YouTube video. I so wanted to love this book, I even wanted to buy copies for people! Good thing I read it first, as I feel it would be an insult to their reading level. I am not meaning to be a jerk, it was just that poorly written (some illustrations even contradicted headings, she really really needs a new editor).

Audiobook Know Yourself, Know Your Money by Rachel Cruze
First and foremost, while I think Dave Ramsey is pretty off for anything beyond the basics of personal finance, I was interested in this book, so i picked it up. I think Rachel is super spot on with how your experiences growing up and your mindset impacts your money – in turn, using this to better budget and plan.
But this is a book I wish I would have read in my 20s. Now that I’m in my 30s, its all feels pretty basic. Therefore, I would highly recommend this book for anyone starting off on their personal finance journey, regardless of age. However, if you are further along and you already know the basics of personal finance and you know yourself, then I’d pass.

Audio Know Yourself, Know Your Money narrated by Rachel Cruze
The title of this book is spot on. Cruz is definitely trying to help people identify their spending habits and discover why they spend the way they do. Right off the bat you get the impression that this is more of an amateur physchology book vs. a book that covers the nuts and bolts of how to develop a budget and invest/save…you know – the nitty gritty. While there were some small gems sprinkled here and there, I could have done without the ‘shame’ reference to Brene Brown and her New Age/Progressive views which states that we have never been separated from God. It is only the self inflicted shame of ‘sin’ that separates us from God, not sin itself. Basically, Brene Brown pushes an inbiblical view of sin, shame and salvation. The fact that she and others like Rick Warren, some Amway guy, and the enneagram (made popular by the extremely heretical Richard Rohr) are mentioned requires one to read carefully with discernment. The physchology of the New Age and Progressive Christianity is not a mindset that will help you or even save you in the long run. I know…I lived it for 20+ years.

Enjoyed reading this book. Learned and discovered a lot about why I am the way I am with money. I felt there could have been more on how to create changes to the challenges. Easy to read, and well written other wise.
