I do have to say I enjoyed Pop Goes the Weasel more than the other four Alex Cross books. I also know its not the best in the series though, if that makes sense to you. Why dont you see what I thought?

The Ugly: A major murder investigation and the lead detective decides to go on a vacation with his girlfriend, kids, and mother? No cop in the world would ever do such a thing. It doesnt matter how much the cop hates his boss or not, there are always ways around someone like that. So, the real problem here is Cross boss. Either quite or request a transfer if the work environment is hostile.

The Bad: Now, speaking of the vacation. One of the major plot points in this book is the disappearance of Christine. But it just seemed to be glossed over. I dont understand it, but I can accept it because

The Good: The best part about this book, and the reason I like it the most, is that its not all about murders. Cross is investigating one killer here. Its not a complicated story with multiple murders. Then the trial started and things picked up. It was more of a political and court room thriller than a murder thriller. It was a nice change of pace.

Final Thoughts: Seeing as how the problems with his boss has been going on for five books now, I can look pass that. Im sure you can too. Like I said, so far this is my personnel favorite, but not the best.

Pop Goes the Weasel audiobook in series Alex Cross

Bodies being dumped in the Southeast neighborhood of Washington DC by a crazed killer that is a master at disguising himself brings Dr. Cross into a suspenseful and intriguing investigation.
No matter what he does the killer remains ahead of him.Dr. Cross, his finance, and family go on a vacation where she is kidnapped. Dr. Cross returns to Washington DC where he apprehends the killer and goes through the trial of the century, and the suspect found not guilty. The suspect has a twist in his identity.
Dr. Cross is able to track the suspect to a tropical island where a batle in the water occurs with another twist.
Excellent in depth writing and invistigating by this author again

Pop Goes the Weasel audiobook by James Patterson

I started reading this while on vacation in Florida although I didn’t get very far because the kids, the beach, the pool, and the drinks were too much of a distraction. But once we were back home, I would read a little bit each night. After 4 or 5 solid nights of reading, I was done. The final act when the Horsemen met in Jamaica, I could picture Death running through the very resort we stayed at in Florida, where I started reading this book. That helped bring the story full circle for me. Basically, from where I started reading in Florida and then to where Cross eventually ended the book (in my mind at least LOL).

Great book, not too difficult or complex, very much like the other James Patterson’s I have read in the past. It was very predictable, with a little bit of bedroom romance and court room mixed in, which I liked.

Will start Roses are Red tomorrow!

Pop Goes the Weasel audio narrated by Taye Diggs

I bought this brand new and it came used with scuffs on it. The content of the novel is superb, though. I’ve read the Alex cross series 1-12 so far and they never ceases to amaze me. They are so easy to read and hold my attention until the very end. Even though it came used I’m giving it five stars based on the story. Highly recommend this series. You technically can pick up any of them and start reading, however, I urge you to read the series in order.

The book is ok. Its pace and action kept me turning the pages: I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
But, some details remain unexplained.
The killer is far too good to be true and certainly very fast. The Flash wouldn’t do better. Some things just don’t make much sense. But it is entertaining and it can be an ok reading if you have nothing else to do.
