Queen of Diamonds gives us a look inside the world of kingpins and the people who willingly surround them. Elena comes home after her aunt is found dead and her sister presumed dead. Not believing that her sister is dead, she devises a plan to find out what happened. She catches the eye of the kingpin, Mateo. Mateo is dark, dangerous, sexy, wicked. His plan? Turn the innocent, naive, Elena into his Queen. Natalie Bennett draws you into this wicked world and leaves you salivating for more. So many hints dropped for what\’s to come has me begging the days by so I can read the next one. Mateo may be soulless and dark, but he has me drawn to him like a moth to flame. I\’m excited for the game coming up. I want to see Mateo completely transform, bend, and mold Elena into the dark Queen he wants and needs. The writing has me itching for my next hit, the characters have me totally intrigued, and the sex. The sex is so delicious. I have built this series up in my head. I\’m not disappointed, nor do I see myself being disappointed. Natalie Bennett makes dark addicting, and I\’m addicted to her brand of dark.

So Zephyr and I have no secrets that Natalie Bennett is one of our favorite authors. Its very rare that her books have anything less than four stars for us and this is one of them. Elena has lost her aunt and her sister is missing. She was kept hidden away from the Elites in a world of deception, murder, drugs, and kingpins. When she found er aunt dead and her sister missing she was no longer willing to keep hidden away. For Elena she was going to play the game to find her sister again. She was willing to do whatever it took and that even meant that she was to be with Mateo Remmington she was willing to thrust herself into that game. She wasnt prepared for what she was going to have to do to find her sister. I am not going to give too much away here because it is just a prelude to the Old Money Roulette series. Its really good though, there are so many secrets and lies thrown around you dont know who to trust or to align with in this one. I cant wait for the next one which is in our shopping cart just waiting to be purchased and consumed. If you havent read anything by Bennett yet I recommend this one. Its one of her tamer books, and a good one to break you into her world of the monsters and the women who love them.

After finishing this book, it is not what I was expecting. The level of mind games and deception that take place are just mind-blowing. All in the name of Old Money Roulette. There is so much we have yet to learn about Elena and Mateo, but make no mistake, its gonna get worse before it gets better. Elena has so much to learn about the life she didn\’t grow up in. She\’s quickly learning there\’s quite alot she needs to learn to make it out of the game alive. This is the world her sister dabbled in and now she\’s nowhere to be found. Is this a game Elena is willing to risk her life for, all in the name of finding answers? Is Mateo really someone she can use to gain the upper hand? Its a dangerous game and I\’m not sure how it\’s gonna play out when Elena releases the things she\’s hiding.

WHAT IN THE WORLD DID I JUST READ!? Of course the cliffhanger killed me too lucky the next book is out…I stand corrected…I now would like to call dibs on all of her antiheros because lets be honest…she writes them so good! Mateo is not your knight in shining armor, he most definitely is a king. And a dark king he is. He is not above torture, mind games, killing and doing what he needs to to get what he wants. And he wants Elena. I definitely recommend any of Natalies books but this series is definitely going at the top of the list along with the badlands series.
