New place and new problem but the problem solver remain the same i.e Jack Reacher. Lee Child is slowly giving the man a tour of the whole world. Wherever Jack goes his motives have remained the same i.e fight for justice and help the one who is facing oppression. He has fought old nemeses and confronted the enmity of a whole town and has remained unbeaten yet.
Nebraska is new for him; he has never visited such a place in his life because of which the Duncans trick him easily in the first meeting. Jack however has come to stay until his investigation is not completed. Many years ago a child got missing in this region and no trace of him was ever found by anyone.

The case remains pending in the files of the police department and Jack wants to end it for the sake of someone close to him. Duncans know that this stranger who has landed on their territory is nothing but trouble. No person knows about Jack’s missions in Gone Tomorrow and 61 Hours in this land still they have a hunch that he is bad news for them.
The locals have other big secrets which they must hide to keep their illegal business going because their lord does not like strangers in the town. Lee Child again like in most of the stories makes the mission go big. One single investigation opens doors for another kind of investigation as well and soon it is a chain of the underworld that is revealed to Reacher. Dick Hill tries to give a special touch to Duncans’ but it does not work properly, it is better to keep the narration the same in all circumstances.
